Kirkwood School Board to Review Tax Rates at Public Hearing on Sept. 18
At a meeting on Monday, September 18 at 6 p.m. at Robinson Elementary School, the Kirkwood School District Board of Education will hold a hearing for informational purposes on proposed tax rates for 2023, which is a reassessment year. During the meeting, the public can learn more about the Chief Financial Officer’s recommendations for setting tax rates based on preliminary assessed values. The rates as proposed are also reviewed and approved by the State Auditor’s Office to ensure compliance with Missouri law.
The tax rates will be brought forward for approval by the Board of Education at a virtual meeting of the Board of Education on Sept. 25 at 6:30 p.m. Directions on how the public can view that meeting is available online at kirkwoodschools.org/virtualboe
Benchmarking
The Kirkwood School District uses a range of informal and formal assessments to determine the instructional strength and needs of students, and thus guide how we proceed in supporting their learning.
As we did last school year, all K-8 parents and guardians have received their student’s benchmark screening data. KSD is committed to ensuring that our families have a clear understanding of the work we do to monitor and collaboratively contribute to the academic achievement of our students.
Families have also received MAP results for assessments that were administered last spring. These are yearly, standards-based tests that measure specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Missouri. All students in grades 3-8 participate in ELA and math assessments, with science assessments administered in grades 5 & 8.
Additional information is available at kirkwoodschools.org/assessment. Individualized information has been sent home with K-8 students. For additional information regarding our Multi Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) proces is attached.
