Summer is nearly here...

This week there are fun happenings and celebrations for all ages:


  • Wednesday morning is all about pre-school aged kiddos during our Farm Days for Young Children
  • Friday marks an exciting rite of passage for our seniors who will be graduating
  • If you want to get outside on Friday night, come out for a campfire and night hike open to family members of all ages
  • Saturday is our regular Open Farm Day
  • PLUS what better way to enjoy summer than cooking up Strawberry Rhubarb Cobbler during our Families Cook on the Farm class on Saturday afternoon!

Farm Days for Young Children

Wednesday, June 10th, 9-11am

358 Springside Ave

New Haven, CT

Children under five and their families are invited to a fun morning of farm and forest activities lead by Common Ground educators. Dig for worms in the children’s garden; visit the animal yards and meet friendly chickens, sheep, pigs and more; explore using your sense in the forest.


$10 per family. No RSVP required.

Campfire & Sunset Hike

Friday, June 12th, 6-8:30pm

358 Springside Ave

New Haven, CT

Enjoy the sights and sounds of the nocturnal forest as we roast marshmallows and take a guided hike. Campfire is appropriate for all ages; guided night hike is recommended for ages 6 and up.


Campfire from 6PM – 7 PM (arrive anytime), hike departs by 7:15 PM. Please bring a flashlight.

Families Cook on the Farm: Strawberry Rhubarb Cobbler!

Saturday, June 13th, 1-3pm

358 Springside Ave

New Haven, CT

This month we will harvest strawberries and rhubarb from the farm and work together to make delicious fruit cobbler!


This class is for families to enjoy together. Please bring at least one adult for every 2 children – all ages welcome. $10 per person – RSVP required.

You make our garden flourish! Meet awesome people and green up your thumb by volunteering on our sustainably managed market garden!


Spring farm work can include: preparing beds, transplanting, and working in the greenhouses. Get your wheelbarrowing on and join the fun...


Meet at the Harvest Pavilion at the lower garden. Drop in anytime Saturdays between 10am-1pm and stay for as little or as much as you would like. If you are under 18 years old you must be accompanied by a parent or guardian please. We LOVE groups! Call to schedule a group to come and volunteer. Explore our beautiful urban farm, help dig and plant in the children’s garden, and visit with the animals. The animal yards are open for visitors to meet our chickens, ducks, turkeys, goats, sheep, and pigs. Trail maps are available for self-guided hikes in West Rock Park, including the family-friendly Old Oak Nature Trail.


This is a free event, donations welcomed.
