Monocular Cues

Instruct - Monocular Cues

Monocular cuesdepth cues, such as interposition, linear perspective, available to either eye alone

Relative HeightWe perceive objects high in our field of vison as farther away

Relative sizeif we assume tow objects are similar in size, most people periece the one tha casts the small image is father away

Interpositionif one object partially blocks our view of another, we periecve it as closer. The depth cues provided by interposition make this an impossible scene

Linear perspectiveparallel lines, such as railroad tracks appear to converge with distance. The more they converge, the greater their perceived distance

Light and Shaownearby objects reflect more light to our eyes. The dimmer one seems farther away

Relative motionas we move, objects are actually stable may appear on the move; objects infront of your fixation pint move backward; objects beyond your fixation point move with you

Phi phenomenonan illusion of movement created when two or more adjacent lights blink on and off in quick succession

perceptual Consisancyperecieving objects as unchanging (having consistent shapes, size, lightness, and color) even as illumination and retinal images change

Teacher Talk - From Sensation to Perception to Behavior

**Perception is not merely a projection of the world onto our brain, our brain constructs our perceptions from the sensory information we receive

  1. Relative Height
  2. Relative size
  3. Interposition
  4. Linear perspective
  5. Light and Shadow
  6. Relative motion
  7. Phi phenomenon
  8. perceptual Consistency

I would so use this to organize this perceptual battles we have with our eyes & brains!

MR Redder Extra Resources

Keep up with the current Modules by using some EXTRAS that I shared for everyone to master the AP Exam in May 2016. These are my docs, so feel free to use them!
