Hello Parents & Guardians,

I hope you all had a wonderful break with loved ones! With the possibility of winter weather approaching, I wanted to remind you of the district plan to use 3 snow days first before using the 5 AMI days we have built into this year's calendar. During a snow day, students will have no academic work expectations to fulfill. In the event of an AMI (Alternate Method of Instruction) day, your student will have assignments posted in Google Classroom by their math and ELA teachers.

On AMI days, we are all in this weather together and it is all hands on deck to make sure you feel supported and have a chance to learn during your AMI day. At 9:00 all students will check in with their math and reading teachers via a google meet. This link is available in your child’s google classroom. Students can complete their assignments when they choose throughout the day. They will also have some optional specials assignments shared by the special teachers and available to students in Google Classroom. Teachers will be available throughout the day to help your student. Please have your student email your teacher.

Our PTO has been working hard this year to plan a variety of events to bring Jefferson families together. We would love for you to join us in this very important, and fun, planning. Please consider joining us at our December 13 meeting and/or our January 10 meeting at 5:30 in the Jefferson library. You can find the agenda from our November meeting linked here.

Join Student Council and Jefferson Cares in collecting highly needed items for Jefferson, the

St. Charles School District, and other organizations around St. Charles from December 1st-

16th! For 12 days, we are challenging each homeroom to a donation competition! All donations collected will be going to help others in the St. Charles area during this holiday season. The 5th and 6th grade classrooms that collect the most donations will receive a class reward! Click HERE to see a larger flyer!

Items will be donated or discarded at the end of the day of December 21st (last day before break).

Our December PTO meeting will be held in the library on December 13th at 5:30pm.

The January meeting will be held on January 10th at 5:30pm.

In conjunction with our PTO Bingo night, our Papa John’s Pizza Fundraiser Night will be on January 31st . A flyer will be sent home electronically. Make sure to use the tracking code so Jefferson will receive credit. Online orders will generate a higher percentage back to our school. Not only will you enjoy great pizza, you’ll be helping Jefferson and a lucky classroom will win a pizza party!

PTO will be hosting a Pizza Bingo Night on January 31st. Keep your eye out for more information!

City of St. Charles School District Families,

We have reached the time of year that cold and flu season is among us. To help prevent widespread cold and flu within our schools please follow these simple guidelines in determining whether or not to send your child to school.

Please refrain from sending your student to school for the following symptoms:

● Fever (100.0 degrees or higher. Students should not return to school until they have been fever free for at least 24 hours, without the use of fever reducing medications, like Tylenol or Ibuprofen.

● Flu like symptoms: fever, headache, extreme fatigue and muscle aches

● Vomiting and/or Diarrhea

● Sore throat accompanied by fever and/or rash

In addition, to help reduce the spread of the cold and flu please encourage and remind your student to take everyday precautions to help stop the spread of germs:

● Wash hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds

● Try to avoid close contact with sick people

● Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth

● Cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing and then wash your hands

Please call if you have any questions or would like to discuss your child's illness. If you have a change in address or phone number, remember to contact the school office. It is very important to be able to reach you in the event your child becomes ill at school. Greetings from the PE department! Just a reminder that as the weather changes please make sure your child is bringing tennis shoes for PE. In December we will be starting our volleyball unit. The unit will progress into a tournament as we round out the year. We will have a competitive tournament and a for fun tournament so kids of all experience and ability levels will hopefully be able to enjoy the tournament.
