Washington High School students had the opportunity to hear from Mitchell Fleck, President & Founder of A Step Above - The Fight Against Suicide & Depression. Mr. Fleck, from Jasper, Indiana, shared his personal story to help shed light on mental health and suicide prevention.
Mr. Fleck was one of several speakers at Stigma Stoppers held at Washington High School to spread awareness and stop the stigma of substance abuse, childhood trauma, and mental health. #IAMWashington #hatchetstrong
Third Grade Needs your Help!
Last year, Mrs. Bennington & Mrs. Chestnut raised money/donations for each child in 3rd grade at Lena Dunn to receive a college sweatshirt to tie in with our Kids At Hope philosophy.
This year, the Third Grade teachers at Washington Intermediate and Washington Veale are teaming together to try to gift EVERY third grade student in our corporation with a college sweatshirt for Christmas!
We are asking for your help; whether it be purchasing a college sweatshirt or donating money towards the purchase of a college sweatshirt. It can be any college! We would greatly appreciate this - as we have a total of 164 third graders this year!
Please contact me, Mrs. Jordan Bennington, or any third grade teacher in our corporation (Ms. Jessie Butcher, Mrs. Patty Allen, Mrs. Melissa Chestnut, Mrs. Kelsey Elsey, Mrs. Amy Hixson, Ms. Kristen Lafollette, and Mrs. Chelsea Travelstead) if you would like to donate. If you want to just go ahead and buy the college sweatshirt and deliver it to us, we will give you a size we are needing. We would really like to have the college sweatshirts in our hands by Friday, December 2, 2022.
Oh and p.s.
This is a secret; don't tell the kids!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

Please join us for the 61st annual Washington Veale Elementary Chili Supper
Washington Veale Elementary PTO met in August and made the commitment to bring this special and amazing event back to Washington Veale Elementary in person. Our parents and our faculty have been working hard to make sure we are a success. We have received support from the community and from many of our local businesses and are very appreciative. Speaking of traditions, our PTO uses the same chili recipe from sixty years ago!
We will have games in the classrooms, several raffle baskets from each class as well as business donated baskets and big ticket raffle items as well.
The big ticket raffle items include:
- a 28” blackstone grill with hood & accessories
- a Nintendo switch with game and carrying case
- a mini iPad with case
Chili supper tickets are $8
Raffle tickets are just $1 each
Please come and enjoy the evening while supporting the students and staff of this amazing school!
