All School Letter
March 9, 2022
Hi Chinook families,
Chinook’s next board meeting is on Monday, March 21st at 6:15 pm. Please review our draft agenda. The link to the meeting is included at the top of the agenda.
Are you interested in serving on Chinook's Board? The Board meets once a month to ensure the fulfillment of the mission of Chinook. If you are interested, please fill out the interest application. *Interested candidates need to fill the form out by 3:00 pm, April 4th.
Once all applications are received, the Board will review the applications and choose two candidates. The Chinook parent community will then vote on one of the two candidates to fill the vacancy. The term is for 3 years, starting at the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year.
After Spring Break, all students will participate in lessons to cover requirements for the Alaska Safe Children's Act. The Alaska Safe Children’s Act mandates schools to provide age-appropriate lessons on child sexual abuse and assault prevention. Mentors will receive age-appropriate information on dating violence and abuse prevention. To learn more about the program we will use you can visit https://safersmarterkids.org/ (K-6) and https://akclassroom.inquisiqlms.com/Default.aspx for the mentor program. Please reach out if you have any questions. If you do NOT want your child to receive the instruction under the Alaska Safe Children’s Act, you must write a letter to Christina requesting that your child be excused from these lessons.
Love,
Chinook Teachers
