An Incredible Summer Journey

July 6th - July 30th, 2020

Dear Parents and Students:

Are you ready to embark on An Incredible Summer Journey? We want to invite all students entering Kindergarten through Ninth Grade to join us this Summer from July 6th - July 30th, 8:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. daily (Monday-Friday), for An Incredible Summer Journey. Your day will begin with interesting and fun reading, writing, and math lessons, followed by an afternoon of sheer excitement as students explore and learn from their themed activities.


We certainly wouldn't forget that your summer is valuable! Students who are in attendance every day all day, and do not miss any moment of An Incredible Summer Journey will earn $75, and students missing no more than one day will earn $50, missing no more than 2 days will earn $25. Students will be able to pick up their attendance money at school on the last day (July 30th) after dismissal until 5:00 p.m.


Make your plans now to be here for An Incredible Summer Journey by completing an enrollment form and returning it to school by the deadline date, June 15th. If your child is already enrolled in the district please complete the Summer School Enrollment Survey.


Incoming kindergartners and students who did not attend our district this past year, please complete this Summer School Enrollment Form. The completed form can be scanned and emailed to Ashley Kalin at akalin@midbuchanan.k12.mo.us.

**If for some reason we are unable to hold summer school in person, we will communicate that by June 15th.

Important Information

The cafeteria will have a "Grab-n-Go Sack Breakfast" available for students to take to class during summer school. A hot breakfast will not be served. The price of $1.70 will be the same as during the regular school year. Free & Reduced rates also apply. If you DO NOT want your child to have the option of getting breakfast, please contact the office, and we will put your child's name on a DO NOT SERVE list. Lunch price is $2.25 for Elementary and $2.60 for Junior High.


Please call the office before 2:15, or send a note if your child's transportation in the afternoon will be different than usual. Please use the drop-off and pick-up located at the back of the building for students being brought to and picked up from school. There will be someone outside (dismissal) to call your student out when your reach the circle. Following this procedure helps to make arrival and dismissal run more smoothly. Arrival will be open from 7:50-8:00 only. If your child arrives before 7:50 you will need to drop them off at ATHENA.The outside door will lock at 8:00. If your child arrives after 8:00, please sign your child in at the Elementary Office.


Athena is available in the morning ($2.00) for parents needing to drop off their students early in order to get to work. Athena's summer hours are 6:30-6:00.


We want all students to have a fun experience at Summer School. As a reminder, students with perfect attendance (no time missed) will receive $75.00. Absences or leaving school early for any reason does affect attendance. Tardiness to school also affects attendance. Students may miss up to one day and receive $50, students missing no more than two days will earn $25.


To prevent sunburn, you may want to send sunscreen with your child, as students are outside 2-3 times throughout the day.


Students who are unable to follow our school expectations of being safe, responsible and respectful during summer school risk being removed from Summer School.
