Husky Happenings Family Edition
Week of March 28
Husky Families-
Last week we participated in the STAAR Interim. This week, student who were absent on Friday will be pulled to make up the test. Our 8th graders will also be taking the Social Studies and Science STAAR Interim test during class on Wednesday and Thursday. In an effort to keep our Huskies focused on academics, teacher will be assigning mandatory tutoring to students who are being academically unsuccessful on a weekly basis. We are hoping this will help our students stay up with their grades. Monday, March 28th, we will be rolling out a NO Phones Policy. All Huskies will be required to put their personal phones in their backpacks from 8:55 am to 4:10 pm. Students will need to use their school ipad and or provided device for instruction. At the end of the 3 weeks, we will reevaluate their grades and phone/technology offenses and consider letting the student have their phones back for the last 15 minutes of lunch. I know many of you text your student throughout the day when emergencies and or change of plans need to occur. Please know you are more than welcome to call the office and we can relay this information to your student. See the link below for more information. As always, please reach out if you have any questions or need help.

Spring STAAR Interim
Last Friday, we conducted the English and Math STAAR Interim. This week our 8th graders will be taking the Science and Social Studies STAAR Interim during class on Wednesday and Thursday. We did have a few students absent on Friday. We will be pulling them this week to make any tests missed. Please remember, the STAAR Interim is the predictive measure the school will use to determine if students will be set up for HB 4545 tutoring hours in the summer. We will make a plan for them to attend tutoring on our campus for 30 hours for each STAAR subject test they do not pass with a 70%. (8th graders could potentially have 120 hours, 7th & 6th grade could have 60 hours). If students pass the STAAR in May (we will get scores in June), they will NOT have to attend the tutoring hours. The test will be paper copies of STAAR released test items, but some students will have the capability to use their iPad for specific accommodations and calculator features when taking the test. Therefore, we are urging student to submit any work tickets and/or pay fines to allow them to have a working device and charger for this day.

HFMS Campus TAPR Report, Federal Report Card and School Report Card Now Available
The Texas Academic Performance Reports (TAPR) pull together a wide range of information on the performance of students in each school and district in Texas every year. Performance is shown disaggregated by student groups, including ethnicity and low income status. The reports also provide extensive information on school and district staff, programs, and student demographics.
The TAPRs were previously known as the Academic Excellence Indicator System (AEIS) Reports.
The most current report is now available on our website. If you would like a paper copy, we have them in the front office.

We want your child to be successful in school, and that means supporting and encouraging their whole development. While excelling in academic classes is important, students also need skills for learning challenges, making good decisions, handling strong emotions, and getting along with others.
This week in Advisory, students will continue learning about Managing Relationships and Social Conflict. Please see the attached for the lessons. Click here for lessons.
**If your child is going to be in 7th or 8th grade next year and is interested in playing tennis for a PE credit, please watch the following video.
Please encourage your child to finish out the last 9 weeks STRONG!! You can help by checking weekly on your child's grades, missing assignments, and encouraging them to attend HUSKY HELP.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Nutt & Mr. Parra
