"Be A Viking" Program Looks To Recognize Those That R.I.S.E. Above The Rest
The motto of the Activities Department for the 2020 school year is "Be A Viking." The motto aims to help lead and motivate all students involved in programs at Howell to "Be A Viking" by displaying and living the R.I.S.E. core values of Respenct, Integrity, Sportsmanship and Excellence. These four core values were established and voted on seven years ago by students, coaches and parents within Howell programs as values that would make our programs successful and lead to great experiences for all involved.
This past week the Activities Department began to recognize those that are doing a great job representing our programs and Howell in a positive way though these values and by showing others what it means to "Be A Viking." Our first #BeAViking recipient was Trevon Ballard. The new Viking has quickly become a leader and is an amazing representative of Howell. Trevon is a member of the Howell football program and is in his first year at Howell. Congratulations to Trevon on representing Howell in such a positive way.
You can follow the weekly "Be A Viking" recipients on Twitter at the @FHVikings account as we celeberate the great young men and women we have in our programs representing Howell in such a positive way.

First Responders Night Football Game Cancelled Due To Lack Of Opponent
The First Responders Night game has brought many great people and organizations together over the course of the past six years. The trademark event of the game is the delivery of the game ball by the Metro Air Support helicopter prior to the game. Although we were not able to make that happen this year we do have a "virtual" game ball delivery that really showcases the area and our new stadium surface. Please take the time to enjoy the video below and also enjoy several pictures from past First Responders Night games. Thank you again to everyone in our Howell Family that continues to support this event and the many others that take place in our programs each year that help to bring our programs and community closer together.
Updated Spectator Guidelines For Howell Events
Due to Covid 19, the FHSD has released updated guidelines for fans attending Howell events that help to promote the safety of all students, staff, parents and fans. For the beginning of the 2020-21 school year all Howell venues will have reduced seating capacity to help ensure social distancing. Howell venues will be marked for socially distanced seating and all fans in attendance will be asked to socially distance from non-family members. Seating will be marked so families can sit together while socially distancing from others. In addition to social distancing, at all Howell events face coverings will be required during the entire event. These guidelines will be in place at all Howell events and will be similar to what other school districts will be requiring when we travel to their venue. The Activities Department and our coaches will work hard to communicate any special guidelines that may be in place when we travel to other schools. Below you can find the guidelines in place by venue.
Guidelines By Venue
Stadium - Facemask required, bleachers marked for social distancing. Six foot sections of the bleachers that are marked with an "H" are no seating areas. Six foot sections that do not have an "H" are available for seating with close family members.
Main Gym - Facemask required, no seating for fans behind scorer's table (team seating only), seating on both levels with social distancing. Seats marked with a yellow sticker are available for seating with close family members. Seats without a yellow sticker are not available for seating.
Tennis Courts - Facemask required, fans encouraged to bring own chairs and social distance.
Softball Fields - Facemask required, fans encouraged to bring own chairs and social distance.
Rec Plex - Masks required, fans must socially distance from non-family members.

Important Information For Traveling To Fall Away Events
Online Registration For Winter Sports Is Open
For the 2020-21 school year the Howell MSHSAA eligibility process has moved to a completly online format. The new format is aimed at streamlining the process and making it quicker and easier for Howell student-participants involved in a MSHSAA sponsored activity to be cleared and eligible to participate. This new format will make the entire process "paperless" and will also allow families to carry over information from year to year and across all family members. The new online eligibility website can be found at www.howellvikings.com on the right side of the page by clicking the "MSHSAA Activities/Sports Registration (Eligiblity)" tab or at the top of the page by clicking "Activity Registration." Below you can find a step by step guide that has been established to help Viking families complete the eligibility process.
Those that are interested in participating in a winter activity or sport must have their online eligibility registration complete by October 26th. Those competing in a fall activity or sport that completed their fall registration only need to go in and click the winter sport they are interested in participating in to complete this process. Online registration must be complete and final clearance given in order to tryout for a fall activity or sport. Those that have questions or issues can now also view a tutorial video that has been developed that will walk you through the entire process. You can view the video below.
