Power Notes
November Update
A Good Balance
October was such a fun month at CRMS. We were so excited to host our first school dance in almost 3 years! The last few years have been so difficult and students have not had the chance to do the events and activities that so many previous generations of students had the opportunity to experience, so this was definitely something that we were happy to get back to doing.
As we move through November and into December we want to focus on supporting students' capacity to be more focused on their school demands. The first quarter is over and as we move into the 2nd quarter we want families and students to consider the following:
1. Attendance is key. Students who miss a number of days often fall behind in their work. Classes are 1 hour long, so losing an hour over multiple days has an impact.
2. Make up work does not replace the role that good in-person instruction provides. While students who are lawfully absent are entitled to make up work, attempting to do numerous assignments without instruction can prove to be extremely frustrating.
3. Students need to ask for help when they need help. Teachers can monitor students as they work and look at students' work when it is collected; however, the best advocate for a child's learning is the child. Every student should feel comfortable letting the teacher know that they need help.
4. Remember, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS I WAS ONLY PLAYING! Students must understand that they need to keep their hands, feet, elbows, etc. to themselves. Play pushing, play bumping, play tackling, play slapping/smacking oftentimes leads to a very REAL situation for the student who was NOT playing.
Families, if you can help us by reiterating these expectations at home, it would be greatly appreciated. It will lead students to consistently displaying the Power Principals of Kindness, Respect, and Knowledge.
Let's all work to have our students be #PowerPlayer at CRMS!
Take Care. Be Well.
