A New Tradition Has Begun
A new tradition began at Tejeda this past Friday, November 11th, when Robert Morse presented his college flag from the United States Air Force Academy to our school. During our Veterans' Day Ceremony, guest speaker Major (Ret) Robert Morse, father of former student Rachel who is now a sophomore at JHS, and current 7th grader Luke, began this new tradition of hanging college flags at Tejeda.
He challenges our community to contribute a flag from your alma mater that will hang with the others that give the students of Tejeda MS something to consider about how they will proceed in life after high school. In his speech, Major Morse stated, "That students who walk these halls after your kids are long gone will someday change the tone of the question they ponder about what to do after their high school years from, 'I wonder what I'll do after high school,' to, 'I wonder what college I'll attend after high school.' " The goal of this challenge is to establish an unspoken expectation in the students' minds that they will go to college. Mr. Morse invites you to contribute a flag! The flags will hang inside our cafeteria.
To purchase a flag from your alma mater, click on the link below. Be sure to select a Garden Flag 13" x 18" so that all of the flags that will hang inside our cafeteria are the same size.
