APEX Fun Run is Thursday!
APEX Schedule & Reminders
Thursday Outdoor schedule:
(high temp 57 & partly cloudy)
- 10:15- 11:15 2nd & 3rd
- 2nd grade will be running during their scheduled recess
- 11:30-12:30 1st & Kinder
- Kindergarten will end recess before 11:00 and eat lunch in the classrooms to finish lunch by 11:30
- Kindergarten teachers can encourage their students to bring sack lunches to school on Thursday
- extra adults will be available to help kinders get their trays and get down to classrooms
- 9:00-10:00 5th & 4th grade
Guidelines for Thursday's Race:
- All staff park in the north or south parking lots
- All staff wear APEX shirt
- Staff may wear jeans or warm up pants & tennies
- Staff are not required to run with students but may if they choose
- Staff are required to supervise students
- Races will occur on the blacktop in the west parking lot
- Kiddos should wear tennis shoes, socks & APEX T-Shirts
- Dress in layers (shorts, warm up pants, T-Shirt, hoodie)
- Stocking cap or ear warmers
- Water bottle labeled with child's name
Reminders about race day volunteers:
- Volunteers must have an approved background check on file with the school district.
- Volunteers may not bring younger siblings or any children not enrolled at Bridle Ridge.
- Only adults signed up to volunteer will be permitted to attend, watch or participate in the run activities. Thank you for adhering to this guideline.

LEGOS NEEDED!
We are looking for donations of Legos - any size, shape or color - to use in our Makerspace at school.
Legos create an excitement within kiddos that leads to hands on learning and engagement and provides limitless possibilities for planning and design.
Donations of new or used Legos are needed and greatly appreciated :)

October 18 - APEX Fun Run - the race is outside
- students should dress in layers
- wear tennis shoes and socks
- bring stocking cap or ear warmers and gloves
- label water bottles with student name
- Remember: only adults signed up to volunteer may come to the race
October 26 - 1st Qtr Progress Reports available for viewing in TeacherEase (ask your child's teachers if you're unsure how to access the grade card)
October 26 - Picture Retakes
- if your child is having their picture retaken, Pearce requests that you send the old picture packets back with photos and dress the child in the same outfit as the original photo shoot
October 29 - 5:00-6:30 p.m. "Haunted" Hallways at Bridle Ridge
- dress the kiddos in costume
- bring the whole family and fill your bags with candy
- (decorations and costumes appropriate for the whole family)

Fall Festival & Pumpkin Auction
Mark your calendars for Tuesday, Oct. 23
Enjoy an evening of food, fellowship, and fun fall decor while helping raise funds for scholarships for Ray-Pec High School seniors!The Raymore Chamber of Commerce annual Fall Festival and Pumpkin Auction is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 23, in Holmes Hall at Foxwood Springs, 1500 W. Foxwood Dr.
Registration and networking begins at 5:30 p.m. The 6 p.m. dinner is followed by a live auction of fall items and decorated pumpkins. The event also includes a silent auction of baked goods and fall items. You also can "pick" a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch and support South Metro Fire Protection District's safe trick or treat event by donating a bag of candy.
Cost of the dinner is $12 per person, payable the evening of the event. Please RSVP by Thursday, Oct. 18, to 816-322-0599 or raymorechamber@sbcglobal.net.
Proceeds from the auction are awarded as scholarships in the spring. Last year, the Chamber provided $4,000 in scholarships to Ray-Pec seniors. The Chamber is seeking donations for the auction. These can include tickets, gift certificates, or items to include in a themed basket.
3 Finalists Considered for Vacant School Board Seat
Board selects Davies, Lowe, and Noah to interview on Oct. 30
In a special meeting on Oct. 9, the Board reviewed letters from seven persons interested in filling the vacant seat. After some discussion, the Board selected these three finalists to interview:
- Maria Davies
- Bill Lowe
- Joyce Noah
The other four people who had expressed interest were: Kyle Gillespie, Aaron Howlett, Kimberly Mallinson, and Shannon Weichel.
The Board has scheduled a special meeting for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, to interview the three finalists. The Board will vote to appointment a replacement to fill the seat until the April 2019 election.
School Board Reviews Achievement, Mental Health & Safety
Work session includes updates and reports
The Board on Oct. 11, 2018, heard updates on three areas: student achievement, mental health, and school safety. All three topics are important focus areas in the District's Strategic Plan.
Student achievement
In the area of student achievement, the Board heard about NWEA test results that measure growth in math and reading, International Baccalaureate scores, Advanced Placement scores, and WorkKeys scores.

In the area of mental health, the Board learned more about recent efforts to incorporate social and emotional learning. The Board also heard about efforts to increase mental health supports for students.

Dr. Bryan Pettengill, Assistant Superintendent for Administrative Services, provided an update on school safety and the newly formed Safety and Security Advisory Committee. The committee reviewed many areas of current and future school safety and security, including Parents on Patrol, CrisisGo/Crisis Plan, and access control. The District is seeking proposals from vendors for a visitor management software to assist with access control.

Meal Account Menus & Payments
Menus
School meal menus are available on the Child Nutrition website at www.rpchildnutrition.org as well as the “Web Menus” app by School Nutrition and Fitness available through itunes for Apple or Playstore for Android.
New Online Payment Processing
The Child Nutrition Department now uses the Ray-Pec Web Store to process meal account payments. Go to www.raypec.k12.mo.us and select “Online Bill Pay” at the top of the page to replenish funds in your student’s meal account.
