Principal's Corner
I really enjoyed seeing all our families at our Back to School Nights this week! I hope you were able to attend and hear from your student’s teachers. I know our staff was excited to meet all of you and I heard great things about the evening’s events.
Talented and Gifted Information
I have a slidedeck to share with you that has information about the district’s Talented and Gifted (TAG) program. Please take a look and if you have any questions, please contact Jay Dyer, our TAG facilitator. Mr. Dyer’s email address is: jdyer@pps.net. Here is the link to the slidedeck - Winterhaven TAG Information 2023-2024
Parent/Teacher Conferences
Parent/Teacher conferences are scheduled for Monday, November 20 and Tuesday, November 21. Conferences are in person this year and they will be from 8 am to 8 pm each day.
Grades K-5 teachers will communicate with families about conference sign ups during the Grades K-5 Back to School Night.
Grades 6-8 is making a slight change this year for conference sign ups. We will be emailing out a Google Sheet after Back to School Night for families to sign up for conferences with their child's teacher. Middle School conferences are student-led, so students are required to attend the conference with their parents/guardians. 7th and 8th grade students only meet with one of their core teachers. 6th grade students will only have 1 slot that will be used to meet with Lanners and Tran at the same time. More info will be shared at Back to School Night and the sign up sheets will be emailed out at the end of Back to School Night.
PTSA News
Our first Community Meeting is this coming Monday September 18th in the Winterhaven Auditorium from 6:00-7:30pm. Participation is strongly encouraged!
Here is a zoom link if you can't physically attend: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82072201725?pwd=b2N6NEszWDhibE9lSlUrbFBYRzFTZz09
All are welcome; however, to vote on the budget (this meeting) and any other agenda items, you must have a current Oregon PTA membership which can be purchased here: https://www.oregonpta.org/membership/joinnow/16843 and is $17 (+processing fee). Make sure you sign up under Winterhaven!
In addition to becoming a PTSA member, we are running our Annual Fundraising Pledge Drive. To meet our annual budget needs of $70,000, we ask that families contribute $200/child early in the year to achieve our goal. So far we have collected only $3,370 which is far short of our budget needs. Please visit the Konstella link to make your tax deductible donation. Without these funds, our events and high level teacher support will be unsustainable. Any amount you are able to contribute is appreciated including monthly donations as you are able through our Konstella system: https://www.konstella.com/app/school/5d506c62e4b04a6bb491f942/donations/64e11e6d47fc49a617b83093
