Principal's Corner: Parent Updates & Reminders
Happy Friday Panda Families!
Thank you for your engagement and participation this week with our Literacy Spirit Week and our Exceptional Children’s Week. Our Pandas have looked amazing in their themed attire. I want to highlight one of Brookview’s Pandas that received the Fulton County School’s Exceptional Children’s “Yes I Can Award”. This year’s recipient is Tyson Jackson. Tyson is an amazing Panda, that works hard, stays positive, and models respect for others. He is truly Great On Purpose!
Next week is School Social Worker Week! Our School Social Worker, Ms. Nikayla Glover, is new to our school this year, but is doing an amazing job with Attendance. If you want to help us celebrate her, please have your little one to create a card or handwritten note thanking her for all that she does for Brookview.
Parents, please don’t forget our Attendance Matters Challenge this month. Students with perfect attendance during the month of March will be entered into a raffle to win a 10 inch tablet or 32 inch TV. Please don’t let your child miss out on this! Make sure you Panda comes to school everyday! See more information in our Social Worker Corner.
I want to remind everyone of the attendance policy for second semester. Please remember to view the important details in the chart below.
Additionally, please mark your calendars. Friday, March 12th is a Teacher Work Day. Monday, March 15th is a Professional Development Day. Students do not report to school on those days. Please be on the lookout for Parent Phone Calls from Teachers on the 12th to discuss academic progress and student academic data. Please make sure your contact information is updated in Infinite Campus and with your child’s teachers.
Lastly, I want to encourage everyone to be safe as Atlanta hosts the Allstar Games. Please follow social distancing guidelines and wear your masks! Let’s commit to keeping each other as safe as possible
As always, I want to thank you all for staying connected to Brookview. Please stay safe, following social distancing guidelines, and wear your mask. Don’t forget to check out www.fultonschools.org, Class Dojo, and Brookview’s website for updates.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Your Principal and Partner,
Jovita G. Wallace
Important Attendance Updates
Assistant Principal's Corner
I wanted to share information about the upcoming Georgia Milestone Assessment (GMAS) that our 3rd-5th grade students will take in April. The State Board of Education has notified districts that students in remote learning should not be required to come into the building solely for the purpose of taking Georgia Milestones. However, schools and districts should notify parents that this option is available to them. As a result, the Office of Assessment will create a survey for schools to send to families to determine which families would like to opt-in to spring testing. This survey will be available starting March 9th. Parents, please make sure that you complete the survey! If you have any questions, please contact the school at 470-254-8020.
Now let’s all continue to have a peaceful, PAWsitive, and productive year!!
Sincerely,
Dr. Smith

Brookview Parent & Family Engagement Plan and School-Family Compacts
Greetings Parents and Families,
Attached below, you will find our school wide Parental and Family Engagement Policy, which has been developed jointly with, and agreed on with, parents of children participating in the Title I, Part A programs. This policy was adopted by Brookview Elementary School on October 2, 2020 and will be in effect for the period of 2020-2021 school year. Brookview Elementary will distribute this policy to all parents of participating Title I, Part A children on or before October 15, 2020 and will be placed on the school website.
Also attached you will find Brookview's School-Family Compact, which was jointly developed by our teachers and parents. The compact outlines the shared responsibilities of parents, students, teachers, and administrators for student academic achievement. The compact also outlines how the school and parents will develop a partnership for student success. School-Family compacts will be placed on the school website at the beginning of the year.
Please review this information with your student(s).
