A message from the Principal
COVID Safety - What to expect at River to start the school year
As we get closer to the school year, we are updating the ‘River Playbook;’ similar to last year’s version. Here is similar information - River Playbook Slides. Here are some key points to know about Columbia River:
We will be on a regular 6 period schedule with all students back in the building!
Masks are required for everyone who comes into the school and social distancing is expected when possible.
Students will be 3 ft apart whenever possible. Teachers will remain 6 ft whenever possible.
All classrooms will have seating charts.
We will be back to eating lunch in the commons and courtyards.
At this time, we are no longer doing attestations or temperature checks.

Safe and Healthy Classrooms Update
The school district will be posting specific COVID-19 case notifications on our website, river.vansd.org. You can find the information on the bottom right of the page. The district will be doing the same thing on the district website through the VPS COVID Dashboard. Additionally, here is a link to the district’s detailed health and safety plan.
Playbook
Sports and Activities: September 13, 2021
Students will have the opportunity to investigate Sports and Activities offered at River: sign up for sports and activities and apply to form new clubs. More information to come.

We will be on an assembly schedule on 9/10/2021 for class meetings
School Supplies
Picture Make-Up Day
Our rescheduled Picture Day will be on Wednesday, 9/8/2021. Pictures will be taken during lunches, students will follow a schedule by alpha for periods 5 and 6. Staff photo will be taken at 2:15.
Athletics
Note - The football game against Skyview is Saturday, September 4th at 7:00 PM. This was changed from the 3rd. Ticket gate will be in place. Schedules are mostly set, but there have been a few changes. ArbiterLive is becoming very reliable for up-to-date scheduling. Girls Swim Schedule (Their schedule does not show up on ArbiterLive) Job Opening - We had so many athletes join our Cross Country team that we are adding an additional coach! We plan on a quick turn around, so please apply if you are interested. Some common questions we have been getting: Are we charging an entrance fee to games? Yes - all JV and Varsity games at Columbia River and Kiggins will have an entry fee (Football, Soccer, Volleyball) - $6 for adults / $4 for kids How many spectators can come? As many as show up! Are there COVID restrictions? Yes - Masks are required indoors. As of today, there will be no indoor concessions. Masks are not required outdoors. There will be pre-packaged concessions only for some events. The school district is required to follow all state and local guidelines. Yes - the grandstands at the stadium are still under construction. Please bring a chair and sit outside of the track. Parking is open in the west lot by the new 500 wing! If the main lot is full, you can now park on the other side of the school. How can I support athletic programs? Join the CR Booster Club!

Curriculum and Classrooms
- Where can I find the school readiness / School Supply list? The VPS website has school supply lists for all schools - Supply List link here
Which lunch will I have? Where can I find information about breakfast/lunch? Lunch is determined by 4th Period class. Students with a 4A class will have 4th period class, followed by Lunch. Students with a 4B class will have Lunch first, followed by 4th period. We will have lists of Lunches by Teacher posted throughout the building. This year Breakfast and Lunch will be free for all students (during the 2021-22 school year).
- Who can I talk to about a schedule change or questions I have like: “what if I am missing a class or assigned to the wrong class”?
Students and Families should contact their grade level counselor for schedule questions. Schedules are created based on requests made by students/families in the Spring of 2021.

Where can I find out information about the bus and parking on campus? Bus information can be found under the “Our School” section on the CRHS Website. Parking information and Parking Permit request forms will be available through the Attendance Office ~ Bonnie Womack will distribute forms after August 31..
