Final Exam Week Continues
***DON'T FORGET TO ATTEND 2 LANGUAGE COACHING SESSIONS THIS WEEK!***
Final Exam Now Open
To take your final exam, click on the link that says Final Exam on your left hand navigational toolbar.
No course materials, study guides or internet resources are permitted to be open during the final exam. Academic integrity is very important here at NCVPS and the same rules for exams taken in school apply to online classes.
The exam contains a listening comprehension part and covers lessons 1 - 13. Be sure you are comfortable with hiragana, katakana, grammar and vocabulary before starting your exam.
All answers must be written in hiragana and katakana. No answers in romaji will be accepted.
*You must NOT use the Google Chrome browser for your exam! *
I recommend using the Firefox browser for your exam. This can be downloaded for free at https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/
Make sure your computer is equipped with these prior to taking the final exam:
Headphones or Speakers
Japanese IME
Quicktime
Time Is Running Out!
You still have time to make up missed coaching sessions and submit work from lessons 8 - 13 but time is running out to make your submissions! Note the dates below:
Thursday - 1/7: Last day to submit final exam/Last day for LIVE coaching sessions
Friday - 1/8: Last day to submit assignments for lessons 8 - 13
To view your missing assignments: Open the Japanese 1 course in BlackBoard and click on the My Grades tab (on the left hand navigational toolbar) and see if you have any assignments marked with a 0 or no submission. If you see any, make a note of what you're missing and make a plan to submit it prior to Friday's deadline.
If you need help with your assignments, contact me or visit the link to the peer tutoring center below.
Tanaka-san's Winter Break
えいご で いみ は なん ですか。 - What does it mean in English?
Let's review what Tanaka-san said line by line:
Happy New Year Everyone!
ふゆやすみ に なに を しましたか。
What did you do over winter break?
まいにち テレビゲーム を しました。
Everyday, I played video games.
ちち は テレビゲーム が とても じょうず です。
My dad is very skillful at video games.
でも、わたし は テレビゲーム が にがて です。
But, I am weak at video games.
しゅくだい を しませんでした。
I did not do homework.
でも、すこし にほんご を べんきょうしました。
But, I studied a little Japanese.
How much of this did you understand? This was a great exercise to help you prepare for the final. If you did not understand some of this, go back and review your vocabulary and grammar from your prior lessons. You can also contact me if you have questions. :)
Notice how Takana san spoke using verbs in past affirmative and past negative tenses. I left this handy dandy verb conjugation chart below to help you review how to conjugate verbs in different tenses. If you need help with this, contact me today!
