Third Grade Moving Up Day
Upon entering the classroom
When the kids came in the first thing they said to me was"are you giving us a fun worksheet?" I told them oh no, fourth graders like to manipulate, explore, and create. Their job was to make either a boat or bridge out of popsicle sticks, and glue.
I showed them pictures of miniature boats and bridges for them to get an idea and then put the kids in groups and passed out supplies.
Even though some had problems constructing their particular structure, they decided to make houses instead. Nobody got done, but I think they enjoyed the challenge. We talked about how this project would definitely be one that would need more research and time.
