Weekly Update
September 12-16, 2022
Message from the Principal
We have 4 weeks under our belt for the 2022-2023 school year. School work is going to start to get harder and expectations will get higher. Check in with your child to make sure they are staying on top of their school work, staying organized, filling out their planners and turning assignments in. If you have any questions about your students grades or school work don't hesitate to reach out to their teachers.
All 6-8th grade teachers have teaming every day, they meet at the following times.
6th Grade- 12:52-1:40
7th Grade- 8:52-9:40
8th Grade- 2:36-3:25
Parents: If you would like to be able to check your child's Schoology we do have parent access available. Reach out to one of your students teachers and they will be able to give you your students unique access code so you can look at their Schoology. As always you can check their grades on skyward as well.
We will have our first monthly celebration on September 30th students must have no F's, no more than 5 missing assignments and no more than 3 visits to the office to be eligible to participate.
After School Assistance Program is offered on Monday and Tuesday from 3:30-4:30pm students must be picked up at the end. IF you would like your child to attend to get extra help on their assignments please call the office or email me to reserve your spot. If we do not have parent communication your child will not be able to stay.

Connecting with the Counselor
This week during Counselor Time with Mrs. Schrader, your student listened to the book “The World Needs Who You Were Meant to Be” by Joanna Gaines. The book follows a group of children as they each build their very own hot-air balloons. As the kids work together, leaning into their own skills and processes, to fill the sky with beautiful colors, we discover that the same is true for life--it's more beautiful and vibrant when our differences are celebrated. Each student was given a blank hot air balloon template to decorate. I would encourage you to sit with your child while they complete this activity and talk about the ways that they are different, and how those differences make them AWESOME! Here are some other questions you might talk about: What are some things that make you unique? What is your favorite thing about yourself? What would the world look like if we were all the same? Would that be good or bad? What would you do if you saw someone making fun of someone else’s differences? Challenge: Reach out to a family member and tell them something that you appreciate about them that is unique. The decorations do not need to be anything elaborate -- your student can choose to just color the balloon with their favorite colors. I would like these hot air balloons back by Monday, September 12th so we can display them in the 5th grade hallway. 6th, 7th, 8th Grade All students in grades 5th through 8th got together with their School Family this week! All of the adults in the building have a School Family. We meet once a month (first Thursday of the month) during Tiger Time. This month, we all met in the gym and participated in some Minute to Win It competitions. Ask your student about it!
