Principal's Message

Hello Hueneme Elementary Families,

Thank you for your patience with our staff and construction to start out the school year! I know that change is difficult and confusing from our normal routine and we are grateful for your support throughout this process!

We have only been in school 7 full days and already I see growth! Our Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten students are getting to know and trust our staff and are coming onto the campus on their own! Our 1st grade students have transitioned nicely over to the bigger playground and campus! And our grades 2-5 have picked up right where they left off! I can't wait to see the progress that our students make this year!

We are so excited to be able to offer free breakfast and lunch to all of our families! A special shout out to our kitchen staff who has been working hard to provide healthy food and multiple choice options. If your students are wondering..."What's for Lunch" you can find the school lunch menu on our website. Click the menu button on the top right of the webpage then click the button labeled dining.

Temporary Office and Hours: Currently, our office is located in Room 12. The best way to get to Room 12 is at the middle gate on 3rd Street- just past the flagpole. Once you are in the gate, ring the bell on the wall and someone will be there to let you inside. Room 12 is the first door on your right. Our office is open from 7:30-4:00 daily.

ASES and Enrichment pick up: Hueneme has made some changes to the pick up area for ASES this year. If you are picking up from ASES from dismissal until 4:00- please ring the office doorbell and we will show you to the library for sign out. If you are picking up after 4:00-5:30, please ring the doorbell on the gate near the Clara parking lot. Someone from the ASES program will greet you and let you in for sign out. For pick up after 5:30, please sign out at the back gate near the cafeteria.

Enrichment Classes: There is still an opportunity to sign up for an enrichment class. Hueneme is excited to offer dance, visual arts, and live theater. Please click the links below to view the flyers. Please call the office if you have any additional questions.

Safety First: Safety is important in and around our school! Many cars stop in the middle of the streets to let their children out of the car or for students to get into cars. There is limited parking at Hueneme and drop off and pick up gets busy! Please do your very best to find a parking spot. This puts our students and families in danger when they run out into the street. In addition, this also holds up the traffic that are also trying to pick up. If we all do our part, I know we can get to and from school safely! Thank you in advance for your help!

Entering School: For the 2022-2023 school year, we will have BOTH GATES OPEN as in past years. If your child is having breakfast, please have them enter at the back cafeteria gate from 7:35-7:55. Upper grade students can enter that gate as well. Primary students are welcome to enter on the Clara St. gate. The Clara St. gate opens at 7: 35. Both gates close promptly at 8:00. Late arrivals should report to the office for a tardy slip.

There is NO supervision prior the gate opening. Please do not drop students off earlier than 7:35. Thank you!
