Hello Falcons!

Our Charleston Wrap fundraiser has concluded. Total sales were $6,400 with $2,500 of those dollars went directly to St. Bede! Thank you to all who participated. Falcon Night Out at Dog n Suds and Maravelas was a success. The owner of Maravelas was extremely grateful for our support. Thank you to the PA for going above and beyond for our school organizing these three fundraisers.

Parent-teacher conferences will be held virtually this year, on November 24, between the hours of 12 - 7pm. Parents will be emailed a link to sign-up for conferences through sign-up genius in early November. Report cards will be distributed via backpack express prior to conferences. Report Cards will be mailed to our eLearners.

Early in September, room parents sent emails to families requesting a small contribution to cover the cost of holiday parties, the school picnic, and teacher gift for the FY21 year, along with a family contact form. If you have not done so already, please fill out and return the family contact form including the monetary contribution as soon as possible. If you need an additional copy of the form or would like more information, please contact the room parent or the school office and we can help direct you. Room parents will periodically communicate with you via email about various opportunities throughout the year. Please be on the lookout for these emails. The room parents volunteer their time and put effort into the planning so please do your part to help participate. Although the room parties and picnic will look different this year, we still want the students to have a memorable year. This message pertains to in-person learners as well as eLearners.

The mask lanyards have arrived for 3-8 grade students and were distributed yesterday. I will revise our reopening plan to reflect the use of the mask lanyard during lunch/recess. We are hoping that these lanyards will help to save some time transitioning from lunch to recess and back to the classroom. In the colder windy weather, the bags were blowing away and causing a distribution issue. If all goes according to plan, we will consider permitting the PreK-2 grade students to participate as well. Additional mask lanyards will cost $5.00 each and can be purchased at the office.

Peace and joy,

Kari Rybarczyk

Athletic Association

Updates from the St. Bede Athletic Association:

Intramural Volleyball will wrap up next week! We had a total of 65 students register for 5 teams and were also able to live stream the scrimmages so families could watch. Thank you to our volunteer coaches and referees for sharing your time with us; we couldn't have run this program without you and appreciate your support and dedication!

Pictures will be taken this Friday, October 16, 2020. Below is the complete schedule:

4:15PM 6th Grade

4:35PM 5th Grade

4:55PM 4th Grade

5:15PM 7th Grade

5:35PM 8th Grade

Please plan to arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled picture time to help expedite the process. We will begin early if we're running ahead of time. Only students will be allowed in the building during photos. Tina Lutzke will come outside and bring everyone in at the same time once the group before you is done so that we're not intermingling the cohorts.

See document below for how our photography company is adjusting the process due to COVID safety procedures.

We kindly ask that all athletes and coaches wear masks while in the building. You will be able to take your mask off for your photo :) We will wipe down the volleyball with disinfecting wipes between each photograph.

Due to COVID-19, PMI is currently only accepting online orders. If you would like to place an order, please CLICK HERE

Exciting Tidbits:

  • We raised $220.00 at our Dogs-N-Suds Night out!

  • Falcon Night Out at Maravela’s was a success! Thank you for your patience if you ordered take out that night. They had 2 chefs not show up to work and were short wait staff as well. They have apologized to us several times for the food taking so long. They actually ran out of food and had to run to the grocery store to get more. The owner said they made $1,972.00 that night and $1,300 of it came from St. Bede. They appreciated our business so much that instead of giving us $130.00 for the 10% donation, they wrote us a check for $250.00! I am so grateful to be a part of such an awesome community! Thanks again to everyone that ordered out that night!

  • Charleston Wrap created $6,400 in sales. We profited $2,500 of that!!!

Infection Control

Faithful citizenship is key. We expect our families to take personal responsibility for the common good as well as their own safety. We rely on parents to keep children home when they are sick. Sometimes it is hard to tell in the morning if a child is truly ill or just having a hard time waking up. Please err on the side of caution during this time. Children should not come to school if they are experiencing any of the following symptoms:

  • Fever or chills

  • Cough

  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

  • Fatigue

  • Muscle or body aches

  • Headache

  • New loss of taste or smell

  • Sore throat

  • Congestion or runny nose

  • Nausea or vomiting

  • Diarrhea

It is important that you contact your doctor and follow the advice of a trained medical professional before returning to school. Please do not administer fever-reducing, cough, or stomach settling medicine and send sick students to school. While it may be an unexpected inconvenience for you in the morning, we believe this is a much better alternative than having to close the entire school because of an outbreak. You are instrumental in helping us to control COVID-19. Please let your employer know of our policy in advance. We need your cooperation now more than ever.

Thank you to those families who were extra cautious this week!! Your support means the world to us!

October: HOPE

CCC 1817: Hope is the theological virtue by which we desire the kingdom of heaven and eternal life as our happiness, placing our trust in Christ's promises and relying not on our own strength, but on the help of the grace of the Holy Spirit. "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful." "The Holy Spirit . . . he poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that we might be justified by his grace and become heirs in hope of eternal life."

FAMILY CONNECTION: choose a Psalm to learn to either sing or pray about the virtue of hope and use this month of life to pray a rosary as a family

SCHOOL: During the month of October we celebrate Mary our Blessed Mother. Please pray the rosary in honor of Mary this month.

A Note from the Office

If you are reporting an absence to the attendance office, please be sure to call in before 8:30am. Thank you!

Uniform Reminder

October 15 was the last day to wear shorts to school until April 15. Please make sure that your children wear pants to school. On days that your child has P.E. they may wear sweatpants purchased from Brooks Allen.

God Box

The God box is located in the main lobby area. If you would like to write a special intention for you or someone you know please place it in the God box. We will bring the box to church with us on Fridays and Father George will randomly pick one intention to read during mass. All intentions will be offered up to God in prayer. Please feel free to call the office and we can add your intention to the box if you are not able to.
