Important News For Our Community
During uncertain times we are reminded that we are stronger together. Through the abundance of caution, schools in Canton are closed this week. While we all practice social distancing, it is essential to keep a level of structure, consistency, and routines for our students while they are not in school.
Some suggestions for a typical daily schedule may include:
- Independent reading or reading to a child (15-30 min a day)
- Daily exercise/ movement
- Math/ ELA skills practice
- Choice/ Creative Time
- Journaling
- Read ebooks from the library (we will provide a guide on how to access ebooks later tonight via the bulletin)
- Play card games, or dominoes to practice math skills
Also, we want to provide you with some resources that can be helpful to your family. The district will provide additional academic resources to all families today via email; our community will receive further updates from our Superintendent in the coming week. Also, your child's teacher may reach out with other resources as needed.

Regular Attendance Helps Children Succeed At School.
What is chronic absenteeism?
Chronic absenteeism is considered when a student is absent 18 or more days or one-tenth of the academic school year. At the Luce, our goal is that every child attends school every day.
Please see the attached attendance hand-out for ways to promote our attendance goal.

Absentee Reminder
If your child is going to be absent or late, please call the school (781-821-5075, then dial “1” to reach the absentee mailbox) before 8:00 AM and leave a message. Also, please state their name, grade, and teacher’s name. Your child must have a note upon returning to school after an absence. School hours are 8:30 to-2:50 pm.
