SHS Welcomes Senator Todd Young
Senator Todd Young came to town on Thursday. The Senator was here to view the innovative partnership between the City of Scottsburg, Mid-America Science Park, and Scottsburg High School.
Our students and Mr. Mullins were able to demonstrate the equipment and what they are studying. It was great to be able to highlight the amazing partnership that is providing opportunities for students in Advanced Manufacturing and Welding.
This partnership is one example of the many paths you can take to a brighter future.
Brewed Awakening Gearing up for this Year’s Grand Opening
The new Brew Crew for this year’s coffee shop has been busy getting ready for business. Previous “employees” have stopped by during their lunches to help show the new crew how things are done. Every operation from running the register to tearing down and cleaning the equipment has been covered.
In addition to that training, this year’s students have been busy learning basic marketing techniques, how to do proper data collection, and commercial production possibilities. Brewed Awakening’s grand opening is scheduled for Friday, September 8th.
The coffee shop will not only feature the standard flavors of slushy (Blue Raspberry, Strawberry Kiwi, Red Cherry, and Green Watermelon), but will also add some new and seasonal flavors such as Sour Apple, Cherry Cola, and the very popular Lemonade.
Students and teachers should keep an eye out for the new Brewed Awakening commercial and a survey that should be headed their way soon.
Friday Night Football Gives Back
Hank Weedin, the athletic director at Salem, has asked if we would like to join in with helping collect items to send. If you plan on going to the game on Friday, please take the items with you to the game and they will collect them there. I know there have been a lot of requests for clothing items and shoes, so if you have any new are slightly used apparel or shoes that would be great!
This is a great opportunity for our communities to work together to help out so many in need at this time!
