World War One

1914-1918 By:Karlie Kim

How Did the War start?

The "spark" that started the First World War was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. Both he and his wife were murdered in Sarajevo on June 28, 1914. Ferdinand was heir to the Austrian throne. He was going to be the next ruler. But he was killed by a Serbian. Then Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia because of the assassination.

What Else was Happening?

Aliied Powers? Central Powers? Neutral Nation?

The United States were not involved they were neutral but until April 6, 1917. The United States was involved in the war because of Germany was sinking 3 American owed trade ships in March. So on April 6, 1917 Woodrow Willson asked congress if he could declare war on the Central powers. The United States joined the Allied powers. Then after the war the Allied powers won the war.
