Harmoniously blending the work of redemption and education

Dear BCCA Families,

The end of the year is right around the corner! The kids (and staff) are excited about summer! Summer has always been a welcome break for almost my entire life. You get some time away from busy things and get to recharge for the next year. Of course, students always have some catching up to do once summer is over because they have taken a well-deserved break from school.

One thing I noticed about summer during my time at Walla Walla was it took me away from God. During my time at Walla Walla, I was a Theology Major. I read about religious things every single day and was constantly reminded about my need for God. Over summer, I didn’t read nearly as much and I started to pray less too. I realized this and disciplined myself to constantly be reading something religious, even over summer. Schoolwork should not be the only motivating factor for my relationship with God.

I want to encourage every parent to keep their child reading over the summer. More importantly, keep your children connected with God. They will not be in a Bible class everyday, but should be in daily communication with God nonetheless. Read about God with your child over summer. Do not let them drift away!

The less we read the Word of God, the less we desire to read it, and the less we pray, the less we desire to pray. - George Muller

Blessings,

Lucas Smith

Mission Trip Outreach

For the students who made the trip down to Birmingham AL., for their Mission Trip 2019, we want to praise God for the safe trip, the fun time, and the learning along the way. Special thanks to Mr. Smith for giving the students this opportunity be servants, and to Sal Navarro for supervising the safe use of equipment. A special slide presentation will be presented at the graduation ceremony. You don't want to miss out on this special occasion to see the students graduate, and to view their mission trip activities. It was truly a blessing to those who received this service.

Blessings,
Lisa Schmitt

Last month we planted peppers and tomatoes in the school garden. We discussed the difference between garden and store bought tomatoes. We also touched upon the local favorite the Cherokee Purple Tomato. We harvested some Kale from the garden to have with the school lunch. It was the final harvest to make room for the summer planting. As we wrap up this years garden time remember to pull some garlic on the last day of school to take home and use in your family meal. We planted it last November. And during the summer swing by the garden to see how well it is doing and harvest something you grew! Children will eat more veggies if they helped growd it! :-)
