Happy Martin Luther King Day!
I hope you had a good day. Remember that when we seek to do good for others and improve the world around us through love and kindness, hope is never too far away.
FDR Test Friday
Well be testing on Franklin Delano Roosevelt. He was a big believer in public service and doing good for others. Please encourage your students to study each night to get ready for the test. Also, you can find the study guide with answers on the class epage under content- social studies.
Inauguration Day 2017
American will exercise a time honored tradition that is unprecedented in the world. Over 45 times, the United States has publicly held ceremony to anoint the new President elect into office. Former Presidents and dignitaries as well as general public witness the spectacle that is one of the hallmarks of American democracy: peaceful transference of power.
What we are learning this week
Persuasive Writing
The kids will be working on a series of persuasive writing opportunities. Letter, speeches. Getting a message across to others in a way that gives them pause to think, consider and perhaps change their minds is a challenge these days. We are so busy and distracted. We'll be working on considering our audience and how to communicate effectively to that audience. It's not an easy task, but I think the kids will have fun in the process.
