Weekly Family Update # 38
May 24, 2020
Principal's Message
Hello Falcon Families,
I hope you are enjoying your 3-day weekend. I would encourage your family to take time tomorrow to share with your student the significance and importance of Memorial Day. My family and I will be talking about my grandparent’s role during World War II. I had a grandparent who built P-51 Mustang engines at a factory in Long Beach and another who was on the front lines in Italy and Europe. We will be looking at pictures and sharing stories. I would encourage you to enjoy the time with family and be mindful of the importance of this holiday. I appreciate those of you who have served or have family members who have served.
Due to the Memorial Day holiday, assignments for the week will be posted on Tuesday morning and not tomorrow. Enjoy your holiday!
School is winding down and we have lots of important information to share about several upcoming important events!
We will start collecting textbooks, library books, registration documents, any remaining books borrowed from teachers, and Chromebooks, based on your student’s last name June 2, June 3, and June 4 from 8:30am-12:30pm. With a make-up opportunity for all students on Monday June 8 from 9am-11am. This will be a drive-thru service. You will drive up at your designated time, stop at a designated location (see map below), hand any items you are returning through the car window, and will then receive a bag containing any items we have to return to students including Art Corps projects, Promotion Certificates, medications, and other items. You will then exit the parking lot. No students or parents will be getting out of their cars.
We ask of all families, please write your student’s first and last name along with their grade on a regular size sheet of paper with dark colored ink to show to staff when you are in the parking lot. This will speed up the process of obtaining the items we need to return to your students.

Please have all your OVMS textbooks and items stacked and ready to hand to a staff member. Have your registration paperwork (PUSD Signature Verification Form and 7th Grade Health Form) on top of your textbooks, ready to turn in (are all signatures on these forms, including your child’s?). Have your passenger window OPEN to hand over your textbooks and paperwork to an OVMS staff member and receive your bag with your child’s belongings. Please keep in mind the potential for delays due to construction around Oak Valley. Thanks for your help making this a smooth and quick process!

Gloves will be provided but please bring your own mask as we will be practicing appropriate social distancing. We will make sure all people feel comfortable and safe as they move in and out and around the library.
