#letsmakewaves February 2018
From Mrs. Frank
Dear Parents,
Have you heard that our school is getting a major renovation this summer? Owens is going to be so beautiful! We are getting a brand new updated kitchen, new flooring, a new air conditioner/heater, security updates and a new front office!
Does your student get enough sleep each night? Here is what the National Sleep Foundation suggests for children:
Ages 3-5 (10-13 hours each night)
Ages 6-13 ( 9-11 hours each night)
It's so important for our scholars to get enough sleep each night so that they are ready to learn each morning. Thank you for making sure that they are getting to bed early enough each night and that they do not have access to electronics during the night.
I hope to see all of our PPCD, Pre-K, LS, 1st, 2nd grade families on February 6th for our first Family Math and Reading Night from 6:00-7:15 pm. Our fabulous PTO will be selling pizza (cash only) if you would like to have dinner at school that night! Thank you for sharing your babies with us.
Love,
Mrs. Frank

FAMILY FUN RUN AND CARNIVAL
15th Annual Owens’ Family Fun Run and Carnival
On April 14, 2018, Owens Elementary will be hosting our fourteenth annual Family Fun Run and Carnival. Not only is this a fun-filled activity for students and their families, but it is a fundraiser to help support our school’s instructional programs and the physical education department. We will have a 1 mile fun run followed by activities and food for everyone to enjoy. There are two main ways you can help us out. First, we are looking for sponsors to help us with the cost of hosting the event. For $250 or more, all sponsors will have their name placed on the back of the Family Fun Run and Carnival T-shirts which the students, families and staff may purchase. You may also sponsor an event and have your name placed by that event. For a list of these events or if you wish to be a sponsor, please contact Coach Kramer at janet.kramer@cfisd.net.
We are also looking for donations for our auctions. Any gift certificates for merchandise or services would be greatly appreciated. Also, any products that could be displayed and bid on are also encouraged. Even if you personally cannot provide these items, we need help soliciting gift certificates and items from restaurants, recreational venues, stores, etc. If you are good at soliciting and have some free time, we would definitely appreciate your help. Please contact Coach Hughes at lisa.hughes@cfisd.net if there is any way you would be able to support our fundraiser by assisting with the auction items.
Thanks in advance,
Lisa Hughes and Janet Kramer
