IMPORTANT NEWS FROM OUR ATHLETIC DIRECTOR
Sports Physicals for the 2017-2018 School Year:
The South Carolina High School League requires that all students have a physical on file before they can participate in any sport for the 2017-2018 school year. Attached are the locations and times for both April and May so that you can take your student athletes to have their sports physicals done. Please note that these physicals are quicker and cheaper than a normal visit ($20 v. $40). You must have all physical paperwork, which is also attached, complete and in hand at the time of the appointment. Furthermore, a parent or guardian must be with the student. These do not take long and eliminates any stress before the next school year begins. If your student plans on playing one or multiple sports next year, I highly recommend taking advantage of this opportunity, regardless of where you’ll be. Lastly, please DO NOT submit these to the school until their athletic season begins. We will be transitioning to a paperless system in Fort Mill schools that requires documents to be uploaded via a phone application to Planet High School. I’ll host training sessions for individual sports next year, as well as post directions to the athletic website.
Night of the Timberwolves:
This year the athletic department, our coaches, and the Athletic Booster Club at BTMS plan to honor our athletes a little differently than in years past. Night of the Timberwolves is scheduled for May 4th at Banks Trail from 4:00-7:00 in the cafeteria and gymnasium. We plan on providing all BTMS and Timberwolf high school athletes a free pasta dinner on behalf of the Booster Club. While eating students will enjoy a slide show of athletic photos provided by our Yearbook and Photography clubs from throughout the year. Parents and guardians are invited but not required to attend the awards ceremony immediately following in the gymnasium. Coaches will present participation certificates, as well as three different awards to their student-athletes: The Coach’s Award, The Hustle Award, and The Timberwolf Award. Afterwards, we will announce the athletes who will be inducted into our student-athlete hall of fame for the 2016-2017 school year. Finally, the male and female athlete of the year will be announced. With the time that remains students are welcome to have fun and socialize briefly for one final time on the athletic fields or the gymnasium. We hope this will be easier on everyone and more informal, while still recognizing the accomplishments of some amazing student athletes.

TEACHER OF THE MONTH
Mr. Wagner
Mr. Wagner has shown qualities throughout the school year of what it looks like to go above and beyond. Since the beginning of the school year, he is always the first person to volunteer to assist with whatever is needed. During his first year at BTMS he has taken on responsibility for the yearbook, Beta Club, and the Veteran’s Day assembly. In addition to his normal workload, Wagner is working on his Gifted and Talented and Read to Succeed courses. On countless occasions, he has stepped up and helped out with extra duties in the morning or during lunch. He keeps an open line of communication with his students and students’ parents. He desires for every student to feel valued and makes sure they have what they need to be successful. Banks Trail Middle School and the 7th grade hallway is lucky to have such an hardworking and committed teacher!
Mrs. Roemer
Mrs. Roemer goes above and beyond the call of duty for her colleagues and students. She is always willing to go the extra mile to assist anyone in need. Mrs. Roemer spends countless hours developing and implementing innovative lesson plans for her classes. Her students just recently won the state and region Verizon App Challenge. In her classroom Ms. Roemer goes out of her way to keep topics "fresh" and interesting like coding, programming, etc. Not only does she help students, but is constantly helping colleagues by sending out helpful information to use in our classrooms and is always willing to lend a hand.
