Education First College Tour
National Substance Abuse Awareness Month
October was National Substance Abuse Prevention Month!
Student Services facilitated a chapel in October, dedicated to discussing the reasons for and risks of substance abuse. We referenced Jeremiah 2:13 and talked about how people often fill their lives with things of this world that are not life giving.
Here are further resources for you to continue this conversation at home with your family, and to access some great substance prevention tips:
FAFSA Reminder
Reminder for seniors and their parents:
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is now available. We recommend that all families fill out the FAFSA as part of their financial aid profile. The FAFSA will be based upon your 2016 taxes and takes roughly 30 minutes to complete. Best part? It's FREE!
It is important that families complete registration for the FAFSA ID as well. Be sure to write down your log-in information! https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/fafsa/filling-out/fsaid
Here, again, is a helpful how-to video:

If students would like to know who is coming to visit when, they are encouraged to check their Naviance account (Click on "Colleges," then "View all upcoming college visits") as well as subscribe to text message alerts (a text will be sent out each Monday with that week's scheduled visits).
Visits are subject to change. Other visits may be added.
Check your Naviance homepage often for an updated list of visits.
Don't forget to ask for a pass from Mrs. Rahm prior to the college visit!

Philippians 2:2-4
Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose. Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.
Our counseling team recently discussed resources sent out by the NAIS (National Association of Independent Schools) regarding digital citizenship and empathy, as well as how the use of technology can impact anxiety. We wanted to share the articles and video with you as well, as we found the information to be all too relevant. We hope you find them to be helpful and informative.
