LSA Alum Update
Leading the Pack!
Michael Grovenstein and Andrew Bowen, both graduates of the Class of 2022 from LSA, have continued to thrive in their academic journeys at NCSU, where they are now roommates. These two exceptional individuals have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to excellence, embodying the spirit of dedication and perseverance that defines their alma mater. As they embark on this new chapter of their lives, we are looking forward to proudly celebrating their achievements and the impact they will undoubtedly make in their respective fields in the future.
Special Alum Note . . .
During a heartwarming family visit to Western Carolina University's Family Weekend in Cullowhee, North Carolina, Andy Chapman, a sophomore at LSA, and family took the opportunity to reunite with 2023 alum, Dani Chapman. After enjoying a delightful dinner at a restaurant in the nearby town of Sylva, the Chapmans were pleasantly surprised to discover a touching note on their car. A note left by a fellow LSA alum from the class of 2021 greeted them, expressing a warm welcome to Sylva and complimenting the LSA magnet on their vehicle. It was a touching reminder that no matter where life takes you, the bonds forged within the LSA community remain unbreakable, and the sense of belonging persists. It served as a heartwarming reminder that the LSA community extends far beyond the confines of campus and that, no matter where you find yourself, your LSA family is never too far away.

A Note on Attendance
School attendance will always be of significant priority here at Longleaf School of the Arts. Not only is school attendance mandated by law, but we pride ourselves on being able to help our students prepare for college and the outside world through our 16-day force failure policy, which states that "in order for a student to receive credit for a class at Longleaf School of the Arts, the student must not be marked absent for more than sixteen (16) days per year." Please be aware that the school will send home letters for all documented absences, whether excused or otherwise noted. While we understand that circumstances beyond our control occur, we ask that you provide documentation to support any absences your student may have throughout the school year. All absences can be reported on the school website through the following link: REPORT AN ABSENCE. If you have any questions about attendance or the forced failure policy, please contact Mrs. Victoria Jones, LSA's school social worker.
