Madison Traditional Academy - The Guild PTO
Principal's Update
Dear Parents,
Half-Day Dismissals: Students will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 20th, and Friday, October 21st, for teachers to prep and conduct parent/teacher conferences.
High School Information Night: High School Information Night will be offered at The Madison Center for the Arts from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 24th. Representatives from various local High Schools will be there to provide information and answer questions.
Visitor/Volunteer Attire: While we appreciate and value our volunteers and visitors, given the fact there are children, please keep in mind some of the following criteria when visiting or volunteering (per the MSD Visitor/Volunteer Handbook):
● Clothing should be free of frays, holes, or tears and should not expose undergarments, excessive cleavage, chests, or midriffs.
● Spaghetti straps/tank tops are inappropriate unless worn with a jacket or shirt.
● Clothing shall not display profanity or profane or obscene gestures, nor shall it support alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, or sexual activity.
● Exercise clothing is not appropriate
Halloween: Just a friendly reminder, to keep the focus on learning, students are not allowed to bring (or wear) costumes, masks, colored hair, props, etc., to school. Please be sure that if your child does use coloring in their hair or face make-up for Halloween, they can thoroughly wash it out before coming to school on Tuesday, November 1st.
In addition, to keep the focus on student learning and limit distractions, I am also requesting that adults that visit or volunteer comply with these requests.
Sincerely,
Chris Merrill
Principal

Guild Updates
Membership Drive: Please signup for your Guild members by clicking here by the end of October. The grade with the most guild members will get a pizza party with Principal Merrill!
Breakfast/Lunch/Recess Volunteers: Please remember - DO NOT sign up for back to back lunch shifts. Your responsibility starts in the lunchroom and ends on the playground. You must skip shifts in order to be where you are needed.
Signing up for shifts will be getting easier. A signup genius link will be coming soon.
If you have any questions about breakfast/lunch shift responsibilities please pick up a flyer in the office (located next to the Raptor machine).
Socktober: MTA will be participating in a Socktober Donation. MTA's goal will be 300 packs of socks. If we can raise this many, Mr. Merrill and Mrs. Smith would like to reward the students with an untucked shirt day! We would like to warm the feet of many in need. Starting Monday, October 10th-31st, there will be boxes in the office where you can drop off brand new packs of socks of any size. The center where this is being donated, is requesting white socks. Student Council and NJHS will work together to count them and let the school know.
Membership and Directory: we are working on resolving an issue with payment by credit card to sign up for membership and directory. We still plan to hold our membership drive in October, and print directories in November. Stay tuned for more information!
Logo Sales and Uniform Exchange: logo items will be available at our next guild meeting, and the website for online orders is close to being ready. We are completing test orders now before rolling this out. Uniform Exchange will be available at October’s Guild meeting.
Current and Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities:
Are you looking to get involved, do you love events/festivals, do you find yourself longing for cotton candy and cake walks?
Then come join the Family Fun Day festival committee (Save the event date of February 25, 2023!). We want to make this a fun and successful event and need your help to volunteer in some of the following areas:
• Creative/Marketing support for logos, flyers, social media posts
• Volunteer Coordinators to recruit and manage volunteers
• Music Lovers to help find a DJ, work on music set lists, and coordinate a dance-off contest
• Sponsorship/Donation support for business outreach, connecting with local businesses, and collecting/packaging silent auction items
• Many event day volunteer opportunities (from set-up to tear down and everything fun in between!)
• Any other ideas/options you'd like to contribute to!
Please DM me or shoot me an email @ nkhraizat@outlook.com with your interest!
