The LMS Lowdown

Principal's Message

The 20-21 school year kicked into full gear when LMS welcomed students back on Monday, September 21st. Things definitely look different with socially distanced classrooms and everyone in masks, but ultimately seeing kids back in our halls and classrooms is a step in the right direction.

It's hard to believe it is October already, but time is flying by. Whether you are a family who has chosen hybrid instruction or fully remote, we are looking forward to working with you to make the best educational situation for each and every student.

This year may be different, but we are going to choose to be positive and celebrate the accomplishments of our staff and students.

Thanks,

Bud

Wildcat Way & Star Principles

Over the spring and summer, our Climate Team continued to meet and work along with our partners from Rowan University. The work towards a more equitable school focused on reviewing our discipline policy and looking at what is important to us for our students and staff in Lumberton. The team worked around the core principles of stay safe, respect everyone, always be kind, and take responsibility. These led to the development of the STAR Chart and the Wildcat Way. We look forward to introducing these ideas to the students of LMS.

Week of Respect

The annual Week of Respect starts next Monday, October 5th. Ms. Byers and Mrs. DeVincenzi have planned the following spirit day activities:

Monday: Let respect shine by wearing your brightest neon or sparkly outfit.

Tuesday: Respect and embrace our differences by wearing mismatched clothing.

Wednesday: Today is about self-respect; we do this by exercising, eating nutritious food, learning coping skills, and managing stress. Wear your athletic gear today.

Thursday: Be a team player and wear your favorite sports team shirt.

Friday: Wear school colors to celebrate our community. Remember you are a STAR.

Picture Day

We will be holding our picture day on Monday, October 19th (Cohort A) and Friday, October 23rd (Cohort B and C). Fully Remote students will be able to come on those days as well from 1pm-4pm. We will be sending out a Sign Up Genius to sign up for slots for the fully remote students. In order for a student to be in the yearbook, please plan to attend and get a picture. More information to come.
