School Counselor Update
I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Margaret Causey and I will be the long-term substitute for Ms. Kennedy. I am so excited to be here, and I look forward to getting to know you all and working with you and the students at Orchard Park.
Just a little about myself - I am mom to three kids who have attended the Fort Mill Schools. We have lived in Fort Mill for 18 years and love it! I have a son who attends Winthrop, a daughter at Clemson, and my younger son is a junior at Nation Ford High School. I graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill and received my Masters in Counseling from UNC-Greensboro. My former experience is in high school counseling; however, I have been involved as a volunteer in the FMSD at all levels for many years and more recently as a substitute in many of the schools. I am excited about the opportunity to be at OPES as a counselor full-time while Ms. Kennedy is away. If I can be of any assistance, please let me know.
PE Shoes
The Winter Season is finally upon us! And as winter would have it, we have some very cold days ahead. We know that when it is cold outside, the tendency for most is to wear warm shoes, especially boots, to keep our feet warm. However, these type of shoes are not conducive or safe for most activities that we are doing in PE. So, we need your help! Please help your child remember to wear tennis shoes on his/her assigned PE days….no boots or slip on clogs. It may be best bookmark the OPES School Calendar or get a calendar at home to record the color days on.
Any student who reports to physical education class wearing unsafe footwear may not be allowed to participate in the class activity and will receive points off their final grade.
Thanks for your assistance in keeping your child safe for physical education class by reminding him/her to wear sneakers on physical education days.
