Superintendent Magas Extends Current Learning Models for ISD709
"As you know, we are currently in an elementary hybrid/secondary distance learning with targeted supports model. Before school started, we shared that we would remain in this model through the first quarter of the school year, which ends on November 6.
Given the ongoing rise over time in local, state and national rates, the current learning model will extend through the end of December. I know that all of us long for a return to normal. We all look forward to a return to full face-to face learning when our situation improves and when we can safely do so.
The district remains prepared to move into all distance learning and pause athletics and extracurricular activities if deemed necessary by state and county health and education officials, but we remain hopeful that, as a community, we can avoid this..."

October was Bully Prevention Awareness Month
Our fabulous School Counselors continue to connect with all OEMS students through Canvas. A theme of their messaging last month was "Pay it forward. Kindness to yourself and others". Feel free to watch the Bully Prevention SEL Video that our School Counselors made and shared with students.
OEMS Picture Day Is Not Scheduled Yet
We are not confident that a school yearbook will be published for OEMS this school year.
Infinite Campus Parent Portal Access- New Sign-up Process
If a parent/guardian would like to request a Campus Parent account, they need to contact their child's school. Ordean East phone number is 218-336-8940. The school will verify that the person requesting the account is the student's legal guardian. The parent/guardian will then receive an email with an activation key to set up their portal account. Families will no longer need to fill out a separate form to request account set-up.
The parent/guardian of all new students enrolled to the district will automatically receive an email with an activation code to set up their Campus Parent account. They will not need to make a separate phone call request.
ISD709 Family Survey
Please take a few minutes to complete the November 2020 Family Survey for Grades 6 - 12
We receive feedback from stakeholders in many ways; email, phone calls, meetings and surveys. All of it can help focus our efforts on what is most needed and guide us in making changes to what we're doing.
As we continue to teach and learn during the pandemic, we're seeking input on what's working well, what could be improved and to gather ideas we may not have considered.
This survey is for families with students in middle and high school. It will take an estimated 7 - 8 minutes to complete. Knowing that each student has different needs, we ask that you submit a survey for each student in grades 6 - 12. Please complete by November 23, 2020.
Thank you for your time, thoughts and input.
Best Wishes on a Fabulous Retirement, Mr. Antonich!
