NYS Assessment Information
The schedules and coverage for our assessment days are linked below. The schedule has been reviewed by your building union reps. Everyone will get ONE plan and a lunch period during our testing days. Team plans are CANCELED on testing days. Unfortunately, we only have ONE building sub available during the ELA assessment, so coverage may get trick. We will use our building sub as the first option to cover for people that need a planning period. If the building sub is unable to cover all of the needed planning periods, then those teachers that we can't cover a plan for will have the option to take a period of class coverage pay and remain in their room. If the teacher needs the plan and time out of the classroom, then we will put the the period up on class coverage for the day and it will be open to anyone that is available to help.
If you know that you are going to be absent on a testing day, please put it on the system ASAP so that we can fill your proctoring responsibilities. We need as many people as possible to make this work! While we won't have large numbers of students sitting in the auditorium opting out, we still need everyone available to proctor, help with bathroom breaks and help with the parallel assessment!
As a reminder, we will be collecting chromebooks on Monday, April 8th. Students will not have their chromebooks from Monday-Wednesday after testing. We will take chromebooks out of testing mode on Wednesday when the last student is finished with testing. Please plan accordingly!

Career Day HELP!
Last year, we held our first career day in quite a few years. It was a great success and our 8th grade students provided good feedback and gave us a lot of suggestions of things that they would like to see in the future. We are currently planning our career day for this year on Monday, May 20th from 8:00-10:30.
We would really like to expand our career day to include all of our 7th and 8th grade students, but to do that we need more presenters. If you know of anyone that would be interested and can help get us their contact info, we would love to reach out and see if we can get more presenters. We are looking for people in the construction industry, animal care, health care, broadcasting, sports and sports medicine, etc. If you know someone that has a career that you think some one our students may be interested in, we would love to have them! All you need to do is give us their contact info and we'll handle the rest!
If you know someone, please send their information to me, Sarah Trnchik or Kim Pirrone!
MARCH MADNESS CALENDAR
SEL CORNER
We have lessons scheduled for this week. Grade 5 will continue to work on Unit 3 and Grades 6, 7 and 8 will continue Unit 4. There is no student handout for Grade 5 this week. The lessons for this week are very timely. They are centered around conflicts, problem solving and healthy relationships. All things that have been coming up in team meetings. If you would like assistance with these important lessons, please reach out to the mental health team.
As we work through the rest of the Second Step lessons, start to think about ways that we could improve our SEL program. Is Second Step the best option? Should we be looking for ways to provide more authentic social activities for students? What could we do differently to improve this time?

SEL for Teachers
7:45-8:05
Please remember that students must sign out on Smartpass at all times. That means that if they are leaving your room between 7:45 and 8:05, they still need to sign out. There is a lot of movement in the hallways during this time period and a lot of nonsense is happening.
Please use your time during 7:45-8:05 wisely. Students shouldn't just be wandering around for no reason!
