SPONSORSHIP
We are very proud and excited to announce that 4 Kettlebell Hot Spot Athletes have qualified for THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA KETTLEBELL SPORT TEAM! The team will be traveling to Dublin, Ireland on November 22nd to compete against the best in the WORLD! This team is being developed for inclusion into the Olympics. Kettlebell is a developing sport and TEAM USA has not been offered full sponsorship from any company or individuals. This means each athlete will be responsible for travel, food and lodging on their own.
This is the third year the United States will bring a qualified team to the IUKL Worlds since the first World Championship in 1992. It is imperative that TEAM USA take their best athletes to represent and I am confident that each of our athletes coming out of Spring Arbor will place in this year’s World Championship. We hope to raise enough funds to not only send our four athletes but to also help our other Team USA members who need financial assistance.
4 Kettlebell Hotspot Athletes Qualify for USA National Kettlebell Sport Team!
Four Kettlebell Hotspot athletes secured spots on the 2015 US National Kettlebell Sport competition team which will be representing the United States in the World Kettlebell Competition this November in Dublin Ireland. They are: Kelsie Minder (24) who competed in the 16kg snatch, Jenny Terry (34) 16kg Snatch, Chris Seward (23) 24kg Long Cycle, and Richard Morton (61) Biathlon (Jerk set and Snatch set). Minder, Terry and Seward all took first place in their respective divisions. Morton qualified in the “Veteran” Division (lifters 50 years+). It was Jenny’s second competition and Richard will be the oldest member of Team USA. The qualification event was sponsored by the American Kettlebell Alliance (AKA) and took place at the Loews Chicago O'Hare Rosemont. Top Kettlebell Sport athletes from all over the country competed. “USA Nationals is the only opportunity for US athletes to earn one of the team spots to represent the U.S. at the International Union of Kettlebell Lifting (IUKL) World Kettlebell Sport Championship in Dublin Ireland on November 22‐26, 2015,” said Rhonda Glick, Coach and Owner of Kettlebell Hotspot. “The best of the best lifters from all over the US competed and the top lifters in each class qualify for the U.S National Kettlebell Sport Team.” The members of the Kettlebell Hotspot qualifying are: Kelsie Minder, Jennifer Terry, Christopher Seward, and Richard Morton, who at 61 will be the oldest member of the team and will be lifting in the “veteran” category. The Kettlebell Sport (also known as Girevoy Sport) is one of the fastest growing weight lifting sports in the United States. It originally was practiced and hailed as the ultimate fitness training technique of the Russian military in the 1970s. Currently there are over 36 countries sending athletes to the International competition. The sport is seen by many as an ultimate test of power, strength and endurance. Kettlebell Sport competitions require athletes to work under a sub maximal load, completing as many kettlebell lift repetitions as possible in a set time frame of ten minutes.
