Spring Fever!

Students should remember to wear tennis shoes and comfortable clothes tomorrow, May 5th, as they participate in Field Day events. Mr. Birkel has organized a fun afternoon with a variety of stations and activities from 1:00-2:30. Rain dates for the event have been set for May 7 or 15.

Thank you to all of the families that donated books for the book drive! Over 500 books were donated! FCCLA member, Heidi Peterson, is working on sorting the books to get them organized. Thank you Heidi for organizing a great project!

It's hard to believe we are gearing up for the last few weeks of the school year! The last day of school will be May 19th. All students will need to bring their lunch and there will be a 1pm dismissal.

If you are looking for a way to keep your children excited about reading - check out the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge at! Also, check out the link below to learn tips on how to manage a busy schedule.

Day of Caring

Students in grades 3-12 participated in Day of Caring on Friday, May 1st. The Young Guns organization planned the event, led by Shannon Palmlund. LIW students focused on the 4-H grounds, LIW Society playground, and parking areas. Students worked hard cleaning, raking, and sprucing up the area. See photos below!

New LIW Members

Mrs. Jeffrey's 1st grade class recently received two new class pets! Frankenstein and Bella are Madagascar cockroaches. The students have had a terrific time learning about them and even holding them!

Children's Museum Celebration

After just four years, the Children's Museum of South Dakota will soon reach a major milestone by welcoming the 500,000th guest in the next few weeks!

To celebrate, that special guest will receive a private party with behind-the-scenes access for up to 20 of their friends and family members! They'll help turn on exhibits, see how things work, and even help wake up Mama and Max! In addition, they'll be treated to a buffet breakfast and have private play time just for themselves and their party, surprises from the gift shop, and a Reciprocal Family Membership valid at approximately 200 Museums nationwide!
