George School's Family Update
September 28, 2017
Our School year is off and running!
I hope everyone enjoyed meeting with your child's teacher on 'Back to School' night and got to hear about all the exciting new lessons and happenings going on in their school life. Please make sure you signed up for Parent Teacher conferences. They will be here before we know it. (October 23, 24 and 25th in the evening). Our PSO also had a lot of great upcoming events to share with us. I know I am looking forward to our first "Trunk and Treat" on October 20th. Next week is "Our Week of Respect". Please see Mrs. Guyt's activities below as we all demonstrate our positive messages of Respect. It was my pleasure to meet so many of you at 'Back to School' night and look forward to a wonderful year. Please reach out to me if you have any questions or suggestions. It's always a great day to be a Cardinal!
Week of Respect, 10/2-10/6
These are the activities for our Week of Respect:
Monday, October 2: National “Stomp Out Bullying” day- Wear blue to pledge that we stomp out bullying.
Tuesday, October 3: Show that everyone counts by wearing a jersey or shirt that has a number on it.
Wednesday, October 4: Be a buddy and “Sock it to Bullying” by wearing crazy socks.
Thursday, October 5: “No Drama Pajama Day” - Put name calling to bed by wearing pajamas to school (No slippers please).
Friday, October 6: Show school spirit and unite by wearing the school color and/or spirit wear.
Morning Drop off
Our students have really gotten off to a great start and have acclimated so nicely to their routines and are having fun with their friends. Starting Monday October 2nd, Kindergarten students will be lining up inside by their classroom door. Parents can drop off students (Kiss and go) at the side door by the Kindergarten wing when the bell rings at 8:35. There will be a staff member at the door, along with our 5th grade Peer Pals to help on safety patrol with their Kindergarten Buddies.
For all our other grade levels, once the bell rings, please allow students only to line up and start their day with their classmates. This routine of lining up with their peers gets students ready for collaborative activities and supports team building, while letting them know that the school day has begun.
Upcoming Events

10/9 - No School for Students
10/12 Spirit Day and Assembly
10/13: PSO Meeting 9:00 a.m.

From the Office of our George School Nurse Mrs. Charlene Alessi
If your child is absent or late to school, the absentee line needs to be called with a message including a reason for the student absence. Please be specific as to what the illness is (example: stomach ache, sore throat, strep, vomiting, diarrhea, fever). The message of "sick or not feeling well" does not help the nurse track illness within the building. In addition, please make sure your child has fully recovered from their illness before sending them back to school. Thank you for helping us keep our school healthy!
