Harrington Park Public School
Term 3, Week 9 - 16 September 2020
From the principal
Dear Parents & Caregivers
As the end of Term 3 approaches we are enjoying some beautiful spring weather at Harrington Park Public School. COVID-19 restrictions remain in place but lots of wonderful learning continues at our school.
Kindergarten 2021 enrolments have been rolling in. If you know of a student who is starting at our school, please encourage the family to contact the office to gain an understanding of the process due to COVID-19.
I am loving front gate duty of a morning and afternoon, as it’s provided me with many more opportunities to interact with our families. Afternoon pick up times will change next term, but only slightly and only for the students who are currently picked up at 2:45pm. From Term 4 these students will now be dismissed at 2:50pm. Please ensure that if you are early to pick up your child, do not wait in the KISS and DROP zone of an afternoon. This effects everyone as it holds up traffic and does not allow the students who are waiting, to be picked up. Unfortunately we will need to contact the rangers/police to do patrols if some of our parent/carers continue to park in the area longer than the designated time.
Pyjama Day next Friday is the last day of Term 3. I hope everyone enjoys the break and stays healthy for the beginning of Term 4, Monday October 12th. Please note there is no Staff Development Day.

Multicultural Perspectives Public Speaking Competition
We would like to acknowledge the effort and commitment of the following students from Year 3 to 6 who participated in the optional public speaking competition during Term 3:
Alira U, Dawn Y, Ethan A, Gabrielle Z, Harry K, Liam A, Mayur A, Myah L, Sheha S, Simran S, Sophie M and Zari D.
Special congratulations to Harry K and Dawn Y (from Stage 2) and Myah L and Ethan A (from Stage 3) who will be representing Harrington Park Public School at the next level of the competition.
Latest School Guidelines
Please be aware that our latest guidelines require that all students upon returning to school from any absence must have it explained through a note, an email or through Skoolbag. Children will be unable to attend class until this explanation is received. We have had a large volume of children returning to school from absences this week without explanations and it impacting on their learning.
In addition, if a child presents at school with a COVID-19 symptom of any kind, no matter how mild, they will need to be collected from school. They will be unable to return until they receive a negative COVID-19 test result and they are no longer suffering symptoms. Thank you for your understanding and support in helping us keep our community safe.

Morning Duty of Care
Our teachers are on duty at school from 8:30am each morning. Unfortunately we have noticed a growing number of students arriving before this time in the mornings. These children are unsupervised. We urge all parents not to send their children to school before 8:30am. We realise that work commitments have an impact, however, should this be an issue for you please consider before school care providers such as Camp Australia.

If you have had a change of details including emergency contacts & address changes, could you please inform the front office so that these details can be updated.

The prescribed 100-point residential address check will be used to verify local student status. See Appendix B
Does your child have a medical condition?
If your child has a medical condition, please inform the school.
If it is a condition that requires medication that has been prescribed by a doctor to be administered during the day by staff, please return the attached form to the front office along with the medication.
The medication needs to be provided to the school in the original box.
Prescribed medication must be for this student with the correct name and dosage noted on the container.
If the condition requires an Action Plan, these need to be acquired from your doctor.
All medical forms and Action Plans are available for download on our school website.
They can be found under the "Supporting our Students - Student Health & Safety" tab.
Dangerous Parking Issues
There have been many complaints and concerns raised regarding parents dropping children off in the entrance of the staff carpark. Then reversing out, narrowly missing children who are crossing the road.
This is a great concern and we please ask you to refrain from stopping here to let your children out, as it places other children in danger.
Thank you for your co-operation.
Payments to the school through POP
Did you know you can pay for siblings in one transaction through our POP (Parent Online Payment) System?
