MMA Montessori Moments
February 24, 2020
Message from our Director
Dear Parents,
MMA has so many wonderful activities planned for your children this week. Hopefully you are planning on participating in our Literacy Week. We have a book fair happening Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday from 3:00-6:00 pm as well as several other events like our annual Literacy Night on Thursday.
We now have the 2020-21 calendar on the website. It has been approved by our Maria Montessori Academy Board and has been uploaded to the state. You can click on the link to download and print it.
We are excited to unveil our new MMA Logo. This logo will be replacing our current logo throughout our school, website and stationary. T-Shirts will be available for order soon.
We are so appreciative of your continued support for the school. Maria Montessori Academy is a wonderful school environment for students to learn and grow.
Best regards,
Mr. Mike

Famous Montessorians
Jeff Bezos-Founder of Amazon
"Princeton Phi Beta Kappa and former Montessori student Jeff Bezos founded Amazon in 1994, initially operating the online book selling business out of his Bellevue, WA garage. Crediting his Montessori beginnings with his approach to business, Bezos describes developing ideas in new markets as similar to “planting seeds” or “going down blind alleys.” Amazon’s executives learn and uncover opportunities as they go, with many dead ends but also sometimes a huge, broad avenue. Time Magazine named Bezos its “Person of the Year” in 1999. Clearly he is one of the many Montessori-educated thought leaders who has changed the way the world conducts business." -Washington Montessori School
"As a preschooler, Jeffrey P. Bezos displayed an unmatched single-mindedness. By his mother’s account, the young Bezos got so engrossed in the details of activities at his Montessori school that teachers had to pick him up in his chair to move him to new tasks. It’s a trait that goes a long way toward explaining why the company he founded, Amazon.com Inc., has survived to become the most dominant retailer on the Internet.” Ageofmontessori.org
Bezos announced via Twitter on September 18, 2018 that he would be pouring $2 billion into two major initiatives, including “a network of new, non-profit, tier-one preschools in low-income communities.” The preschools, Bezos wrote, will be free for students and inspired by the Montessori approach, in which children direct their own learning in an environment that is prepared for them to explore.
