STAAR Redesign
Did You Know?
The STAAR (State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness) test is changing! The STAAR redesign is a result of House Bill (HB) 3906 passed by the 86th Texas Legislature in 2019. The redesign will be implemented in the state summative assessments administered in the Spring of 2023.
Major changes:
-Online testing
-New Question Types (no more than 75% of the STAAR test can be multiple choice questions)
-Cross-curricular passages
-Evidence-based writing
Click on the link below to see more information regarding the changes to the test.
Things To Know At TJE
TJLE Library...
Our library is excited to welcome you back to the 22-23 school year. We encourage you to partner with us to continue to create a community of readers. If at any time you would like to set parameters on books your child can check out, or if you have any questions about our library, please call our librarian Holly Riggs at 817-299-6949 or email at hollyriggs@misdmail.org. We look forward to reading our way through 22-23!
You must bring a valid physical ID each time you check into the office. A picture of an ID on your phone is not acceptable. Please wear your badge at all times, and only go to the location indicated on the badge. Return your badge to the front office, upon leaving so that we know you are no longer in the building. This aligns with our MISD safety expectations.
Party invitations will only be passed out to the whole class or for girl/boy specific parties. Our goal is to never make students feel excluded. This is our practice at Thelma Jones. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out to me, Mrs. Rhines, directly.
You may send treat bags for your student's birthday. Treat bags will be passed out at the end of the day and sent home with students. Ideas for treat bags include: stickers, pencils, small party favors, and wrapped candy. You may not bring food for your student's birthday. Things like cupcakes and cookies will not be accepted.
When having lunch with your student, please be mindful that you may only eat with your student in the designated area. I know it's nice to meet your child's friends, but we are not allowed to put other students in your care without parent permission. Once lunch is over, you will need to checkout in the front. No visitors on the playground.
