Tanglen Update

July 22, 2022

A Message from Principal Jim Hebeisen

Hello, Tanglen Community!

It is hard to believe we are approaching the end of July. I hope you are finding time to enjoy the summer with your amazing children! Earlier this week we had a GREAT turnout at our first Summer Sparks event of the summer. It was wonderful to connect with many students and parents...and former students who dropped by as well. Our next Summer Sparks event is Thursday, August 11, at the Tanglen playground. I hope you can come to the event to pick up a FREE book, have a popsicle, and join us in a water ballon fight! Of course, time to visit and play on our playground is always a hit, too! Join us anytime on the 11th between 4:00 and 6:00 PM.

Big picture

Tanglen Kids & Company needs YOU!

Kids & Company is hiring!! Tanglen has a waiting list of families who would like to have after school care, however we are short staffed currently and unable to accept everyone from the waiting list. We are looking for motivated and reliable individuals to join our after-school childcare team!! M-F from 2:00-5:30/6:00pm. Support the community, build relationships, and earn money and experience. If you have children at Tanglen who attend Kids & Company, one of the employee perks is the first child is free and the second is 50% off the cost! Apply here!

If you need a little nudge, give me a call and we can talk through why this would be a great option for you and a wonderful way to support our school community! Jim 952-988-4901

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT - Transportation Registration for 2022-23 Required

Hopkins now has an opt-in transportation policy. If you need bus transportation for the coming year, you must register. Earlier this summer you received an email from Hopkins Public Schools asking you to select your needs for transportation for next school year. If you did not fill out the survey, please fill out the

Resident Student K-12 Transportation Form AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. The form can be found when you scroll down a few inches at the linked webpage. If you have multiple children, fill out the form for each Hopkins student in your household.

Filling out the Resident Student K-12 Transportation Form now will save you many headaches in a few weeks, for your child will NOT automatically be assigned a bus this fall.

Enroll for Kindergarten

If you have a child who is starting kindergarten and you have not enrolled yet, do it soon! Our staffing is dependent on enrollment, so we need to know exactly how many students to expect as soon as possible.

Enroll at https://www.hopkinsschools.org/about/enroll/enrollment-form.

Check with your neighbors who have children starting kindergarten to make sure they have applied, too.

Rising Kindergarten Playground Night

On Tuesday, August 16, our rising Kindergarteners and their families are invited to join me on the Tanglen playground from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. This low-key event is a chance for you to meet other kindergarten families as your children explore our playground and gives us a chance to visit as well. I hope you can make it!

Back to School Event

Plan to join us on Thursday, August 25, from 5:00 to 7:00PM for our BACK TO SCHOOL EVENT! This is a chance for you to find out who your child's teacher will be for the coming year, visit the classroom, and drop off supplies. This family event is always crowded, so plan to park at the high school or junior high parking lot if our lot is full and walk over to Tanglen.
