Native American Heritage Month
Come by and see the Native American display, provided by Ms. Maria Guzman. November is Native American Heritage month. During this time we acknowledge and recognize the different cultures, traditions and contributions of the Native Americans. Thank you, Ms. Guzman for your contribution to the library.
We interrupt this program....
We have future newscasters in our midst. Students from the Broadcasting class have started to come over to practice their interviewing techniques. Not only are they getting practice behind the cameras, but also getting ready to be in front of the cameras! Way to go, Rafael and Eben! Way to go Ms. Epstein!!
Book Review: Finding Gobi, by Dion Leonard
I became a proud owner of 3 pets a few years ago, since then, I have become an animal lover! I came across this book at our Scholastic Book Fair. I was quickly drawn to the cute little dog on the front cover. Finding Gobi, is a story about a relationship that develops between a dog and an ultra-marathon runner. This is a true story on how we can all support each other no matter how small we are, two legs or four. This is a must read for all animal lovers!! Galindo
Using Britannica School
This month in the library, the sixth and some seventh graders were using their iPads to research on Britannica School. The sixth graders's focus was on Comparing Countries while the seventh graders focused on general searching. Students were shown features such as the listening tool, citing tool and looking at various levels of the same article. Check out the site for yourself!
Monthly Reminders!!
Staff, if you have not turned in your digital citizenship certificate to Ms. Galindo, please do so ASAP!
Students, please return overdue library books. If you are not sure when your books are due, stop by the library. Ms. Galindo will be extremely happy to check for you!!
Lightsail is here!
Have a extra few minutes before the bell rings to dismiss your students? All students have the Lightsail app on their iPads. Lightsail is an interactive reading program. Students can check out ebooks through Lightsail and read independently. Each book contains cloze assessments, multiple choice questions and student thoughts (short answer questions). Students will click on the Lightsail app and log in via, CLEVER login. If you would like to learn more about Lightsail, feel free to stop by the library. I would be happy to share all that I know about it.
