LHS TIGER TALK
September 2, 2022
Good Afternoon Loveland High School Families,
These have been three great weeks and I know students are ready for the long weekend! As a reminder, there is no school on Monday, 9/5/22.
This week, student pictures were passed out and hopefully made it home! Next week, be on the lookout for your students EOC scores from last spring. Students will pick these up during their lunch.
If you have not already done so, please consider joining the Loveland High School PTO! Your membership will help support teacher and staff appreciation as well as extra activities for our students here at the high school. Please click here for more information and an easy way to sign up to support our LHS PTO!
Have a great weekend!

An Important Message from our Director of Student Services
Dear Families:
As part of Loveland’s commitment to support our students’ academically, physically, and socially we continually look for ways to hear from our learners so that we can better meet their needs. Beginning the week of September 12th LHS students will participate in a weekly ‘check in’ within the Abre platform. The purpose of this tool is to provide staff with information on which students may need additional connection with adults in the school environment. We piloted this tool last year in response to requests for support brought to the district from parents and students. We are excited to expand this ‘check in’ to our LHS students.
One day a week (Tuesdays) when students log-in to Abre they will be prompted with 3 questions:
1. How are you feeling today? (students will have emoji icons to choose from)
2. On a scale of 1-5 how would you rate your overall wellness today?
3. How can we assist you in the coming days?
These questions will help to gauge how students are feeling in a given week, at a given time. Getting student feedback will help us provide mental health support in a targeted way.
PPRA Notification for Students-
The Notification of Rights Under the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA) requires schools to give notice and give parents (and students who are 18 years of age or older) an opportunity to opt a student out of any protected information survey.
Participation is voluntary and you may opt your child out by contacting me at kohlsje@lovelandschools.org by September 9th, 2022. If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out to me @513-683-5600.
We are excited to incorporate the student voice in how we can best meet our students’ needs by asking them how they are feeling and what their needs may be.
Sincerely,
Jesse Kohls
Director of Pupil Services

EXPLORATION WEDNESDAY
Exploration Wednesday will take place on October 12th this year. Seniors will be given the opportunity to career shadow, visit colleges or participate in community service off site. Juniors and sophomores will be taking the career or college assessment that they signed up for last spring. These include the PSAT, Practice ACT, ASVAB or WorkKeys. The freshmen will be participating in community building activities. Please note that we will operate on an early release schedule that day. Students will be dismissed at approximately noon. Lunch will still be available, though. Specific details for the day will be shared as we get closer to the date.
COLLEGE VISITS
Many college representatives visit LHS each school year. The purpose of these meetings is to give you insights into the processes associated with admissions, scholarships and more. Taking part in these events can be very helpful when making plans for your future.
Here are the steps to take to sign up:
1. log into Naviance via Clever (in the "waffle")
2. click on Colleges, then College Visits
3. scroll through the options; don't ignore options that you've never heard of; use SuperMatch College Search (also under the Colleges tab in Naviance) to see what schools may be a good fit for you
4. click on Register Now for any visit that you would like to attend; registration must be completed 24 hours in advance of the event; a pass will be generated for you to come to the school counseling office for the meeting; students are responsible for any school work missed when meeting with a college representative
5. some college representatives may also elect to have a virtual visit at 3:00pm; specific information about this is provided from the admissions counselor at that school
Please reach out to your high school counselor with any questions. We are happy to help!
