8th Grade Counselor Newsletter
October 2020
Mode of Instruction Change
What to Expect for the 2NW - October 13 - December 18
- There is not a capacity limit, so if you request for your student to come to campus they will be able to come to campus for instruction. There is no weighted point system.
- We will have additional schedule changes to accommodate students coming to campus.
- Depending on the number of students on campus, students may eat lunch in the classroom or we will shift the bell schedule to accommodate more lunches. We will not know our path forward until October 1, after we have all of the requests for 2NW.
- If your student is in athletics (in-season or off-season), they will be expected to come to campus for class regardless of their MOI. Students should come dressed for practice; virtual learners will not be issued lockers.
Updated School Calendar
Academic Calendar Survey
Our District Academic Advisory Council (DAAC) is looking for feedback on the 2021-2022 district calendar. The PfISD instructional calendar is a collaboration between the community, students and staff. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey. The survey will remain open until Oct. 4.

Dear Parent/Guardian,
On Friday, Sept. 25, all PFISD students enrolled in grades 8-12 will receive a customized College and Career Readiness Guide in their PfISD student email account. Please take time to ask your learner about the report and review the information included to begin and/or continue conversations about future planning. Your child’s counselor has access to this report and will be using these reports to offer targeted guidance to students when planning next year’s course selection and when helping students identify areas of academic strength as well as areas to grow.
This is a pilot year for this report. We would appreciate student and parent feedback on the effectiveness and usefulness of this report using this form (the feedback link is also included in all student reports).
Thank you for collaborating with us as we work to provide guidance and support for your learner’s future planning.
Sincerely,
Shirley Bachus
