Secondary Mathematics Update

Virtual Learning: Week 8 and Week 9
For weeks 8 and 9 in middle and high school review student work and assignment completion for weeks 1 through 7 and determine if there is a need to reduce/exempt a small number of assignments in week 8 and/or week 9 (only two days) to allow for completion of weeks 1-7. Please connect with your PLC and administrators to make these decisions.
8th Grade: Exponents, Roots, & Scientific Notation
It was brought to our attention that students may not have been exposed to certain 8.EE standards due to the pacing differences of OUR and eSchool. Please consider using math nation and/or zoom sessions to provide instruction for 8th grade students that did not receive instruction for Unit 7 or OUR or the 8.EE standards addressed in unit 7.

SEL/Compassionate Schools
It’s important to maintain your relationship momentum with your students during this last stretch of learning for this school year. Consider ways that you can empower students to wrap up their learning. Could a student lead a virtual class lesson? Could a group of students create a reflection activity based on what they’ve been learning? By allowing for student voice and choice in their learning, you’re showing them that they are a valuable member of the class and that you believe in them and their abilities.
