A lot of games are created for mobile devices, most of them are small mini games and only a few large projects that took actual time and effort to craft. Most of the smaller games fail and return little to no profit. This is due to the amount of small games that are made and that most games are not designed for the mobile device even though it was made for the device. Most of the games that fail are designed to be a console or a PC game that they moved to a mobile platform so they need some way to control the player, they then stick buttons on the screen to be able to have this control. That is the wrong way of designing gameplay for a mobile platform, for you can only see a small portion of the screen and the buttons often work poorly. The right way is to use the only user input on the device, the screen. Make a game that orientates around the touch screen. There are numerous ways we can be innovative and make a game based on touch, position, speed and rotation of the user.

Many creative, beautiful and useful applications have been created on these mobile platforms. Most of these apps are created to make your daily life more easy or fun. They help us communicate with other people, remember dates, navigate through an unknown city and so much more. It's amazing how much a small smart device can do. And only with the few tools developers have to create the app with are the speed, rotation, position of the user and ofcorse the touch screen. However it is enough to make amazing even life changing apps.

Leikir og forrit

Það eru margir leikir búnir til fyrir farsíma. Megnið af þeim eru litlir leikir en aðeins nokkur stór verkefni sem hafa tekið tíma og átak að búa til. Flest af smáu verkefnunum deyja og skila litlum sem engum hagnaði. Þetta er vegna magns lítilla leikja sem búnir eru til og af því að flestir leikirnir eru ekki hugsaðir fyrir farsíme þótt þeir séu búnir til fyrir farsíma. Flestir þessara leikja eru leikir hugsaðir sem PC eða leikjatölvu leikir sem eru svo fluttir yfir í farsíma pallinn þar af leiðandi þarf eitthverja leið til að stjórna aðal persónunni, þá er settir takkar á skjáinn til að ná framm þessari stjórnun. Þetta er auðséð vitlaus leið þegar hannað er leik spilun fyrir farsíma, þú sérð ekki nema smá magn af skjánum og takkarnir virka oft á tíðum illa. Rétta leiðin er að nota eina inntakið sem notandinn hefur, skjáinn. Búa til leik sem gengur í kringum snerti skjáinn. Það eru all margar leiðir sem er hægt að nýskapa leiki í kringum snertingu, staðsetningu og snúning notandans.

Margar skapandi, falleg og nothæf forrit hafa verið búin til fyrir farsíma markaðinn. Flest af þessum forritum eru búin til að hjálpa við daglegt líf og gera það skemmtilegra. Þessi forrit hjálpa okkur við samskipti, muna dagsetningar, komast í genum óþekktar borgir og mikið meira. Það er magnað hversu mikið þetta tæki getur gert. Og aðeins með þeim fáu verkfærum sem forritari hefur til að búa þau til. Þau verkfæri eru harði, snúningur, staðsetning og auðvitað snertiskjá notandans. Samt sem áður er hægt að búa til mögnuð forrit.

Interview: Hilmar Veigar Pétursson

For the interview I chose Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, the CEO of CCP. I Got his phone number from ja.is and called him. The questions I asked were: Is the mobile market a future market for developers in witch he answered: "Yes, definetly. The market for mobile applications and games is already huge and will only be growing the next years." I also asked him if he will be bringing his company witch is a huge PC game development company to a mobile platform, he is considering it but is still sceptical, he continued by saying "Maybe we could build an app to act like an extension to our game, like Dust was".

In conclusion he was very positive towards the mobile platform and hopes to bring his company to the market.

Daniel Kraft: Medicine's future? There's an app for that

The video is a introduction to today's world of medicine and how technology helps doctors cure ill patients. For example the doctor can monitor and talk to the patient through a mobile device and diagnose him without the patient going to a hospital. The patient can also diagnose himself with the help of applications. The technology today is also evolving towards helping disabled living normally. These are amazing leaps in medicine and help save the lives of countless people.


I chose this video for it shows how technology actually helps peoples lives and sometimes saves them.

Sergey Brin: Why Google Glass?

He explains how the google glass is socially healthier than your phone. Instead of have to check your phone and looking down in it you can interact with other people while you are interacting with google glass. It was designed to be comfortable and always be able to all kinds of information when you need it.


I chose this because I am very interested in the google glass project and I hope too see more of it in the future.

Jan Chipchase: The anthropology of mobile phones

He talks about how the third world evolves around technology. For example how an illiterate man can use a phone to send money. He found amazing people fixing phones by only reading the manual that comes with the product.

This shows another side of technology and how it is used, that is the reason I chose the video.
