"Mr. Steve Nislick, co-founder New Yorkers for Clean, Livable and Safe Streets, maintains that a horse ban would represent

“a windfall for the [horse drawn] carriage industry from the sale of its multimillion-dollar stables alone,” 64,000 square feet of “valuable real estate on lots that could accommodate up to 150,000 square feet of development.”

Whose idea?

Mr. Nislick. over four (4) years ago as CEO of Edison Properties, a parking lot group with parking lots close by all of the horse drawn carriage industry's co-op stables on the mid-west side of Mid-Manhattan:

"proposed that the horse drawn carriage industry be replaced by electric-powered faux Model Ts."

Edison's Get Rich Quick Plan is a plan formulated in Mr. deBlasio's pre-election office.

Here is what he had to say.

We request an explanation for your sponsorship of a ban for horses to draw carriages

There have been few accidents involving horse drawn carriages in New York City during its long history.

The NYPD is in charge of the welfare of the horses. I do not see their support for your ban.
