Sycamore Community Schools is seeking Adult Volunteers for April 22nd - Professional Development Day
The certified staff of Sycamore Community Schools will be participating in a professional learning activity called “Cost of Poverty Experience (COPE)” led by facilitators from Think Tank Inc. on April 22nd. The purpose of the activity is to engage our staff in authentic, empathy-building experiences to better understand the daily struggles some of our families may experience as a result of economic fatigue.
Each session will include 120 staff participants. We are in need of 20 volunteers (COPE Resource Leaders) for each session to “role play” various community and business members. As a COPE Resource Leader, you will be given your role by the COPE facilitator during training. Training will be provided in the first hour of the volunteer shift. The time commitment will be approximately 3-1/2 hours. Unfortunately, we will not be able to provide babysitting services on this day, therefore volunteers are asked not to bring their children along.

WEE Deliver
Wee Deliver is coming!! For those new to Symmes, we will be running a school wide postal system, with Mrs. Wuebbolt's class as the Main Post Office! All students will be given an address and will be able to write letters to all their friends and siblings throughout the month of May. The student's address will coordinate with their homeroom number. For example, a student in Room 1 will have this address: 1 Symmes Lane, Loveland, OH 45140 and so on according to their homeroom. We will have mailboxes in the hallways for the children to place their mail. This is a wonderful time to teach students about how our mail system works. Each classroom will have postal workers and will be able to purchase stamps for ONE PENNEY! The money collected from the stamps will be donated to a charity. The stamp design winner will be announced soon. We encourage parents, grandparents and extended family to write to the children. Stamps can be purchased through our front office. Our opening assembly will be on Tuesday, April 25th at 9:30 a.m.. Parents are welcome to attend.
Nature Trail Volunteer Day
Our Nature Trail is a great resourse of learning for our students at Symmes! We have outdoor classrooms that our teachers use when weather permits! We take care of the trail several times each school year by cleaning specific areas of the trail. Our Nature Trial Volunteer Day is quickly approaching. If you would like a fun day with your family working on our Nature Trail, please email Mr. Reinke at reinkes@sycamoreschools.org to let him know how many can come to help!
This event will take place on Saturday, April 27 from 10:00-2:00.
Thanks so much for volunteering!
