January 2022 Hawk Talk

January Principal Message

Welcome back to the second half of the school year. We are looking forward to seeing your child on Tuesday, January 4th! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and that everyone is safe and healthy.

As we start the new calendar year, I encourage you all to talk to your child about creating a New Year's Resolution. This time of year allows us to reflect on our goals in life and assess what we need to do to reach those goals. This is an important life lesson that children can learn at a very young age. Ask your child what goals they have for themselves and help them reflect on how they are making strides to achieve those goals. For example, a child might say they want to learn to ride a two-wheel bike. They can start with setting a goal to ride their bike with training wheels and a helmet three times a week for two weeks. Then they can take off the training wheels and, with the help of an adult, find a big open and flat area for them to practice their balancing skills on the bike until they can ride it independently. Setting realistic goals and monitoring their progress is a tremendous life skill that will help all of our students to be successful in the years to come.

If your child would like to share their New Year's resolution with me, please have them fill out the form below so I can encourage them along their way!!
